Be careful with how they charge you as well. Make sure they don't double charge you on two roots when it should just be for the tooth.

They aren't that bad. I had one about 15 years ago, kind of a nasty experience with a rough dentist, this guy would hurt you with a cleaning.

I had one about 2 years ago with a different dentist, this one was much better.

Biggamer3--I have had MANY root canals done and it is not bad at all if the dentist uses novacaine and a little nitrous oxide gas. Granted, I now have a mouth that is half full of crowns and a bridge, but the worst part, IMO is the novacaine shot itself.

If you aren't happy w/your dentist and are willing to travel to Nassau County, I would be happy to refer you to my dentist.

BoL and don't worry.

Root canals a veritable walk in the park now. It's all good, painless and one gets to restock barb supply! Most dentists will give you P.K. of choice. Go into office whistling Happy Days are Here Again.

Come to costa rica and get them done. $200 each with a porcelin crown. alot cheaper than the coupon your looking for. And the dentist I use is great. have had alot of people come from the states to get their dental work done by him. Guy is painless. Im scared shitless of dentists and this guy has drilled me without novacaine. The ticket here and the dental work (plus a vacation) will be alot cheaper than getting done up there.

If your dentist has oxygen have him use it---nothing but a hose that fits over your nose. You won't know the dentist even did any work.

where can i get some of this oxygen stuff? is it legal?

It's called nitrous oxyide--your dentist will have it. It's so simple. It is hooked up to his equiptment and is a comfortable peace that goes into your nostrels (if I remember correctly). You'll feel fine both during and after the procedure.
You can't buy it over the counter--I don't think. Besides you WANT your dentist to use it. Be sure to ask for it if he doesn't bother.

it's available over the counter...just go to your nearest diary case...grab a can of whipped cream, DONT shake it, stick your lips around it and give it a squeeze and inhale....same stuff....or so i've heard....:nohead:

Just had one, no pain and/or complications at all. And mine was on a healthy nerve too. Had to insert a post to attach a crown to.

Root canal

it will probably cost you about a dime a tooth. Nothing at all . Had two last week in the morning and played Golf afer lunch. I have had probably six in the last three years and they are nothing. A few advil is all you need.

I have had cleanings more painful than a root canal. The most uncomfortable thing for me is keeping my mouth wide open for the 45 minutes to an hour. Other than that it wasn't too bad at all.

I don't mind the scalers when the hygienist cleans my teeth but when they use that ultrasonic soldering gun-like probe with the water pic on the gums to start the session, man THAT can be painful.

Just make sure your dentist does not proceed until you are fully numb. I have deep roots and had a time when he went in with the easy out (grabs the nerve) and the bottom of the nerve was not numb. Talk about toe curling.

Have had about 5 of them and that was the only time I felt anything.

Get it all done at once... I have always been afraid of Dentists and finally went in after like 7 years.. had 5 cavities done and 2 roots. We did it on Sunday night took about 2 hours and the next day I felt nothing.. Tell them you want a contracted insurance rate if you don't have any. They may take it down a bit.
