I do have a question for any seasoned bettors out there should I not be doubling down on a game such as betting the money line and also the over under is that wise to do that or should I stay away from that
I follow the unit betting system. I bet equal amount on each wager / pick that I like no matter what the odds are.
Lets say Lightning/Stars over 5.5 has a -110 line. I would bet 1 unit to win .91 unit.
Panthers has -193 line. I would bet 1 unit to win .51 unit.
It all depends on how much your bank roll is. Some people play with 1 unit = $1,000 some play with 1 unit = $10,000. This way I can minimize my losses.
So if I play with 1 unit = $1,000. Lightning / Stars over 5.5 = RISK $1,000 to win $909.09
Panthers -193 = RISK $1,000 to win $518.13
I tried doubling my bet on a pick that I really like before. It didn't work for me. But, who knows it might different for you.
What I mean by doubling is this....if I bet lightning ML is it counterproductive to place a bet on the same game O/U. Even if feel like it's a good bet should I be minimizing my exposure to any one game?.
I do that sometimes on NFL. I bet 1 unit each on the spread / ML, and the totals. Then I parlay them on a .5 unit 2 team parlay.
I'm doing that tonight for the Saints / Falcons game. 1 unit on Saints +3 and 1 unit on the over 51, and another .5 unit to parlay them. It been working out for me.

In regard to to playing side and total on same game. Like athan12 pointed out, a correlated parlay makes a lot of sense in the NFL, (generally taking the point spread favorite with the over, under with the dog). Nothing wrong on taking both as straight bets in the NHL, (on same game), if that’s the read you have. I’ve done it many times.
