Big mistake for Portugal resting "their incredibly gifted starts". Fact of the matter is Scolari is an ignorant dickhead. Losing to Swiss means you have limited depth, or are somewhat overated as a team. YOUR SUBS SHOULD BE AS GOOD AS YOUR STARTERS, THEY ARE THERE BECAUSE THEY DESERVE TO BE THERE, at least I like to believe so.

You are bashing Scolari? WTF is wrong with you? How long have you been watching soccer? This happens in every single tournament when a team has already won their group. Why take a risk on your best players being injured? Why not give them a rest so that they'll have fresh legs for the next game? Why not give the chance to some of your bench players to see some action? The loss to the Swiss didn't mean shit, it didn't change a single thing for Portugal.

That statement that subs should be as good as starters is one of the dumbest things I've read on this forum. That doesn't happen in any sport in the world. Starters are your best players by far. Please tell me which subs do Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Carvalho or Simao compare to. Now go do some research on Luiz Felipe Scolari and the things he has accomplished. You are the biggest idiot on this thread.

Don't compare Portugal because they don't have same depth. IMO this team got easy draw and will be lucky to win another game in this tournment. A team without a striker will suffer against the better organized teams.

As for their previous games, you can't really compare those qualification games. Usually players are together for like 2 days and its just like mid-week game. Often players are coming unfit, or just not prepared mentally. There are alot of factors that go into qualification that don't have any consequence in the finals games. Often these games favor those teams that are upcoming, rather then powerhouses for the simple fact upcoming teams usually are domestically based and know each other much more then for instance dutch team who have alot of overseas players.

Romania WILL have to go to win. They would've had better chance if Holland was forced to go for the win, as they could sit back and settle into the game.

Sorry, at this level of competition they are all fit. Some probably have adopted the Lance Armstrong training regime.

Unconfirmed Dutch line-up:

Van der Sar:
Melchiot, Heitinga, Bouma, De Cler;
De Zeeuw, Engelaar;
Van Persie, Affellay, Robben;
Huntelaar;

Melchiot is recovering from a minor injury, he would have been a first-teamer without the injury. Heitinga is just as good as Ooijer and Boulahrouz. Bouma is nothing special but the dutch have no real good left-footed defenders. De Cler is good stand-in for van Bronckhorst.
De Zeeuw played most of the qualifying matches, but lost his spot due to tactical decisions. Engelaar played good against Italy but he was disappointing against the french, his performance in this game could decide if he plays on Saturday against Russia/Sweden. Van Persie and Robben need the match-exercise. Affellay is a very talented youngster. Huntelaar is a good striker with an eye for the goal. He lacks the experience that van Nistelrooy has, but he is the future when van Nistelrooy retires.

I am not going to bet on this game. We could see a Portugal-like performance, but Croatia also won yesterday against Poland in a game that didn't matter anymore for the Croatian. Anything can happen in this game. I'll just stick to the France-Italy game.

The difference though is that game meant nothing to Poland. They had nothing to play for. Romania moves past the group stage with a win, and I see absolutely no reason why they can't beat that lineup. Romania's team is better than that Dutch lineup.

those are from livescores.com no?
I dont think they are right, Wesley nor Van Der Vart will be playing. Doubt Kuyt or Van De Sar either

Any have an official line up for both games? They usually are out at this time.

I've decided to go with Romania pk -128. I think they have the talent and the motivation to win here.

Most Dutch news-sites have this line-up:

Stekelenburg:
Boulahrouz, Heitinga, Bouma, De Cler:
De Zeeuw, Engelaar:
Van Persie, Afellay, Robben:
Huntelaar.

2 changes from the one that I posted earlier, Stekelenburg is the goalkeeper from Ajax and he is the most logical replacement for van der Sar when he retires from International football after this tournament. Boulahrouz plays again to get more match-exercise. He missed most of this season due to injuries.
