Kashmir should be top 5 imo. These lists always cause a lot of controversy, at least for me they do.

just re-read your post , Allman Brothers Band country!! ??

Although country influenced I would hardly call the ABB a "Country band" they were one of those special groups which defined their own sound. They were unequal parts Jazz, blues, rock and, yes, country.

2 words - Whipping Post!!

I would also suggest you listen to their most recent release ... that would most certainly set you straight.

peace!

M eanstreak - agreed - the Alman Bros played rock music with a country taste to it - and they played some great guitar.

Also - Link Wray is missing - and he's one af the founding fathers of modern heavy metal - "Rumble" was one of the finest instrumentals in the 60's and 70's - I watch the movie Desperado just to listen to the sound track play "Jack the Ripper"

trytry...

yes, you missed it .... #71.

jinrikki ... yes it is unfortunate that "Stairway" has forever been diminished by the overkill it received in Jr High, that notwithstanding, ' Heaven' is lyrically, musically, and thematically Zeppelin's best.

And since Zep was the world's greatest 'rock' band (Stones fans please don't embarrass yourselves by arguing) ... it MUST be considered the all time greatest.

peace!
