Thanks, so you can subscribe to MLB package for example via the Roku? and it is cheaper than thru cable?

I subscribed through MLB.com and can view on any on my mobile devices or a Roku or SmartTV(Maybe) or any where you can get the MLBTV app. So if I'm at the casino or bar, I can pull up any game I want on my phone. Pretty sweet actually. Customer for life now. I was originally looking for their single team pack (for the Cubs, of course) which was like $90.00. Or I could get all teams/games (except blackouts for your area team and which includes ESPN Sunday Night games) for like $120.00. So I went with that.

I honestly don't know if Charter (my cable company) offers the package or what it costs, but their app is so unreliable for viewing outside your house, that I don't like giving them more money for anything.

Same thing with NBA. Subscribed through NBATV, and view via the Roku on my TV if I'm at home. Roku just basically allows you to stream the subs you have on your TV. There may be more options available, but the ones I use are basically the only ones I'm interested in.

What ChugsMcGee is saying is right though, sports is everything for cable. The people who don't watch sports subsidize those of us who do since the pricing plans are all the same. We're consuming the more expensive content, they're consuming the less expensive content.

Should be interesting to see what happens as the cutting accelerates.

No shit. Not only am I paying a ridiculous figure for my regular cable package, with Internet, and the damn landline because the mother-in-law doesn't like talking on the cell phone, but I also have the MLB, NBA, and UFC mobile packages. It's f'n ridiculous.

Also, if NFL ends up providing their package to a Google or Apple for full season. THAT will be the game changer. I think some site (Twitter, maybe of all places, been awile since the announcement) got a couple game agreement. You get NFL off the cord and that will force their hands I believe.

The agreement that Twitter got wasn't exclusive though. It was to show games that are airing on the networks in general. It was a few Thursday night games.

Right now Amazon and Netflix would be the most likely internet company suitors to bid for exclusive game rights since they could seamlessly fit them into their subscription plan and drive more subscriptions.

Maybe if the cable model collapsing causes the TV deals to go up slower, then they will get in on it for certain sports.
