John Madden had a career record of 11-1-1 (.885 win pct) on Monday Night Football. That's the best MNF record of any coach all-time (min. 10 games). Madden called MNF on ABC from 2002-05.

43 years after he retired at the very young age of 42, John Madden still has the best winning percentage of any coach in NFL history. He won the Super Bowl in 1976, the first for the Raiders franchise.

Legendary coach and announcer. He was a joy to listen to.Learned a lot from him as a youngster. He and Summerall were the best duo for many years. RIP.

Cool to see the covers through the years, that's Vince Young in '08, damn. Peyton Hillis 2012, he ran over NE and had the game of his life vs them in 2010.

I remember the 2017 season they tried to start showing some games from the Madden video game view and it did look cool to see the game from a different perspective/angle but it wasn't something you would wanna look at for 3 hours and you need continuity in broadcasts really so seemed like they just scrapped it.

It’s funny how madden 92 was my favorite game back in the day (loved the 85 bears in that game)

we just bought madden 22 and played for the first time last week. The game is still awesome.

funny how back in the day when buying a video game, it came with a book of instructions.

when you buy a game today, you need to look online for instructions

How many people do you know are known to 3 different generations of people for 3 very different reasons ?

The baby boomers remember him for being a HOF coach.
Generation X remembers him for his broadcasting .
And the millennials know him for a video game.

hell of a run

Chop,

I think most people know him from 2 out of the 3

The video game came out in the late 80's and became popular in the early 90's.

His last broadcast was the Jan 2009 super bowl (great game)

Funny how my kid (who loves to play madden) had no idea who madden was and my wife had no clue that we was a coach

I loved the guy as an announcer, coach and part creator of the best video game football ever made. I stopped buying them in the mid to late 2000's when I kind of outgrew it but I remember playing some classic game with madden 92 and 93 being a good year also - can't remember why. I think I learned so much about football playing that game, using the clock and always going for it on 4th down. I think he did more to contribute to the game than anyone. He will truly be missed.
