Marseille were missing their most creative player in Samir Nasri. I still thought they'd put up a better showing. Tough one. Only guaranteed thing in French league is the under. But the bookies are wise to it so there's no value. There's a real problem in that league with a severe lack of goals. The footballing authorities and the media wanted to look at changes in the points system to try and give a bigger incentive for teams to attack and score. Possibilities like rewarding goals scored, or not giving a point for a goalless draw.

Sadly Aaron Lennon is injured, but they've got Berbatov, Bent, Malbranque, Keane, and Defoe all available. Sunderland will be looking to make a good start to the Premier League, and Roy Keane likes them to play attractive football, looking to keep the ball on the floor and working the passing angles. It will be alot harder in the Premier League, but he should be smart enough to implore some courageous football, particularly with the fans cheering them on.

Good value because Boro are missing three of their best central defenders. Woodgate, Pogatetz and Huth are all out. Boro have still got Yakubu, and new signings Aliadiere and Tuncay. But, overall the midfield and defence look extremely poor. Blackburn can be shaky in defence but they have a brilliant set of strikers, and a host of talented midfielders who are finally fit after some big injuries last year.

Villa have Luke Moore back. His injury last season prompted a shift away from their favoured formation and lead to a dramatic downturn in their form. With Moore back, Agbonlahor available, and new signings Ashley Young and John Carew with some experience in the side under their belt, there are some very good attacking options. Alot of pace, and the ability to interchange positions will cause defences alot of trouble. Petrov will have had a seasons experience in the Premier League to get used to it, and will have better help alongside him in a newly motivated Reo-Coker, and Gareth Barry. The possibility of a rejuvenated Patrik Berger also gives them the option of a more creative outlet.
Liverpool tend to always struggle at the start of the season. There are question marks over who will be starting, and Benitez's squad rotation policy. Will Gerrard be playing in the centre or the wing? Will Torres be starting? Who will he be partnering? I don't think they looked very good in preseason. It might take time for Benitez to settle on a first team, and who his best options are. I think Villa have a chance to get the draw or achieve an upset. Hope they come through.
