To be honest, I have never asked since I won't change my play regardless. I typically rely on their marketing department and just pay the resort fees. Occasionally the offer says to call the host and on some of those occasions, he has just given me a straight comp and tells me if I want to take advantage of the gym to let the front desk know and they will charge me the resort fee. I typically pass even though I'd love to work out. I just can't see paying that kind of money just to workout for an hour.
Sometimes people look online at room prices and think they are getting a deal by visiting during non peak times. The room is listed as $79 a night but when you check in they tack on the resort fees. Seems like they are taking advantage of people
