I can say with 100% certainty that anyone who made a 17k difference (more or less) from one year to the next, will NEVER have the exact same amount of withholding for SS, FICA and Medicare..just not possible. Even if you changed your number of dependents, it is still based on a formula of your earned income.

Of course, I could be wrong so I will defer to resident CPA Willie on this matter.
