Rather than trying to get the CIA to cook evidence for this war (which they refused to do ) why not get their intelligence ops up to speed in the middle east (where after 911 it was revealed how sorely neglected and impoverished our intelligence in that region has become) and then take Hussein out covertly.
All of this commitment of men/materials, the killing and poisoning of American soldiers, innocent Iraqi civilians, and the long term damage to our international relations and reputation are absurd in light of the payoff--taking out one guy against whom the case can't be made except via lies and diplomatic bullying.
There is no cost/benefit or risk/reward analysis or scenario that could possibly justify it. It is a fantasy, a flight of fancy on the part of both the fundamentalist (Bush) and his neocon/israeli lobby handlers, who see to reshape the chessboard in the manner of pre-WWII Britain. (see
