David Price has reached an agreement on a seven-year, $217 million deal with the Boston Red Sox, according to The Boston Globe, which cited a source.
The left-hander was 18-5 with an AL-leading 2.45 ERA last season with the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays. He was second in the AL in pitching WAR at 6.0 in 2015.

Acquired by the Blue Jays at the trade deadline, Price went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in the regular season for Toronto. The postseason was a different story, however, as a ghastly 6.17 ERA was coupled with a 1-2 mark in the Blue Jays' first playoff appearance since 1993.

Price spent the first six seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays, including a Cy Young year in 2012. The Rays dealt him to Detroit in 2014.

Price went 13-8 in 32 regular-season starts with the Tigers over parts of two seasons, but he failed to be the final piece in bringing a World Series title to Detroit.

I don't care what his Stats are ... That kind of money is Stupid and the reason why the avg. Family can't go to these games without hocking something.

They had to do something. Guy was the best pitcher in the market besides head case greinke.
We'll (the fans) will be happy for the first 3/4 years, then be cursing him out in the last 3 years.

It should be 7 years for 10 million max.

These pitchers are so overated. Very seldom they have good years back to back to back to back.

On top of that, he is guaranteed every dime unless he just quits. What is his motivation. Over 30 million a year to work 30 days

I continue to wince at Red Sox signings. New GM. Stupid signings continue.

Never thought I'd cry for Theo but I'm suddenly jealous of Cub fans.

Agree. Totally stupid. Baseball not having a salary cap is a joke too. The rich get richer...

should do better with less pressure with sale being the #1 ahead of him, like the over as long as he can stay healthy. still a good lineup behind him when he takes the mound even without ortiz

I hope so Husker. But without the big Ortiz bat in the middle I think this lineup is gonna look very ordinary. The pitchers are going to need to hold their own this year. Think he's gonna need to shave .50 points off last year's 3.99 ERA to get to 16 wins this year. If he loses any games to health issues (albeit not likely) he will have a hard time getting there.

'Course I'm biased. I never liked this signing.

Was not impressive last year at all. I agree, too many overpaid athletes.

I didnt like the signing either fwiw, i hated it haha. I wasn't a fan of the sale or pomeranz (sp?) trades either but when you can print money like the federal reserve down over at Fenway whats 217million.
