Cuse-
The NFL has 32 teams
The NFL does NOT have 32 starting quarterbacks.
Jason Campbell is a backup QB that the Redskins traded for to jump up and draft in round 1. Campbell was drafted specifically for Joe Gibbs ( who oddly enough wanted a veteran QB anyway Mark Brunell). Gibbs came out of retirement to try and run a 2007 NFL team in a 1987 NFL business model.
The NFL has changed. The rules have changed, and the size/speed of the players has changed. A defensive back can't mugg a WR 15 yards downfield anymore, and the passing game has flurished.
Dan Marino played much of his career after Gibbs retired and led the league in Passing. Brett Favre played his entire career post gibbs and broke his records. Peyton Manning played in this ere and should break every record, and Tom Brady shattered the records in an even more passing NFL last year. Drew Brees came close to breaking a single season passing record this year.
This is the era of passing quarterbacks, not big strong guys that hand the ball off and "hope" their defense wins game.
Why did Zorn stick with a guy that isn't the answer at QB?
1. It is very possible that he got orders from his great jewish god from above. Snyder has been known to meddle.
2. Coaches give their young " QB of the future" the benefit of doubt. Do you really want to bench your QB and destroy his confidence? Jason Campbell was very flustered when reading the papers, listening to the radio this season as he complained to the reporters. Rather than letting his play back it up, he made excuses and cried.
I mean look at how Gary Kubiak said he was committed to another over drafted dumb mobile QB that the Texans wanted to succeed. Kubiak tried to teach him, he tried to make it work, but even he had to give up at some point on David Carr. David Carr is nothing more than an NFL backup as well. There are NOT 32 starting QB's in the NFL, and Carr, Campbell, Leftwhich, Losman, Jemarcus are not them etc.
Gary Kubiak eventually did go after his guy ( Matt Schabb), and Zorn will probably eventually play Colt Brennan, but right now he had to toat the company line. " Ohhh Jason is our guy, Jason is going to be a real good player blah blah blah". If you and I can see that isn't the case, I am sure Zorn the " QB guru can see it as well". He just isn't in the position to be honest.
