In an apparent hot mic moment, Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman was caught uttering a homophobic slur between innings on Wednesday. Less than two hours later, he was apologizing and exiting the booth.

Before the seventh inning in Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals, viewers heard Brennaman calling an unknown area ‘the f-- capital of the world.’ Brennaman did not seem aware he was on the air, and soon started plugging a Reds pregame show on Fox Sports Ohio.

When did simply uttering the word "fag" automatically make you homophobic?
When did poking fun at something come to mean you hate it?

I have a gay friend, grew up with him, went to his gay ass wedding in California. I call him a fag all the time. Never in a hateful way, just like "damn you're such a fag dude." I do not have a prejudice against gay people, I couldn't care less.

Just weird to me that it automatically goes there.

Back in my drinking days my friends called me a drunk. Are they alcoholic-phobic?
Everyone needs to stop being so fucking sensitive.

"Dont be a fag" is commonly used. I am sure some bleeding heart would find that offensive but I dont give a damn.

Its an offensive slur to gay people.

Its also 2020

I remember when Allen Iverson had a rap song 20 years ago and the word "faggot" was in the song and people were outraged.

People like to bitch just to bitch just to bitch

Sadly I think his career is over. In the sensitive world we are in now he will have to be fired or face backlash. Never liked the guy personally growing up here in Cincinnati.

He might have some pull with his dad being Marty.

Yup. Id be shocked if it wasn’t.

He’ll probably get another shot somewhere in some podunk role after some time passes. But I doubt you will ever see him doing an MLB game again.

The local radio stations morning show has a gay guy on the talk show in the morning. He said a apology isn’t enough. He said he needs to offer to volunteer at The Pride event next year. Hahaha

World has went to shit. We can say anything any more without someone claiming it’s offensive.

What a sinking feeling this guy must have had when he realized what had happened right after he said it.

Yea can you imagine that?? Lol

nobody in the booth realized it went on the air for awhile so they probably continued the conversation off air till they were notified it went out on air then the booth probably went silent or ballistic

Is KC really the capital? I've never heard anyone ever mention about KC.

I guess the "dorothy" reference is used much?

Let's be consistent. If this guy loses his job for that comment, then Popovich should lose his job for calling the President a racist, fascist.

Why is it that the left has to be the regulators of what speech is disallowed?

The party of tolerance, my ass.

Why bait him in? He hasn’t even been here in this thread to ruin it. You and him should both get the boot.
