Number 8 is a two-edged sword. Your point is also well taken, but mark my words that mine is also not to be taken lightly...

THE SHRINK

You keep hinting a book that just left is going down. I guess that someone should be paying attention to that, but I don't have money in any of the books so I won't press you on it.

I do think 8 is the most off one. And it seems most here from posts agree.

Shrink-

I think you hit on one in your list. I found it strange they kept on offering 20% bonus and are a reduced juice book. That may have been problematic if not now somewhere down the line.

Lander- Alot of people were lured into PanAm. They fooled alot of us not just the major.

Regarding #9, what if the shameless shilling is done by the forum site's owners and mods? Does this still constitute a warning sign? Or we can make that #11?

Shrink, I think it is the nature of the beast to have these scandals, and I don't think they will go away. We now have back to back scandals, and there was not too much time between this scandal and the last one. If you put these books under the microscope, very few will pass muster, and yet the RX has a constant need of revenue, and can't afford to be too picky.

Might I add from personal experience that starting from scratch on the Internet, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO EVEN EXPECT to make a net profit for the first FEW years!!!!!!! If you consider start up cost and overhead, those books who come out of no-where and think they might get lucky and win are crappppppp! And those newbies who are also taking sharp stuff 99% of the time go into the toilet.

Are there exceptions? Perhaps...But you won't catch me posting up with a new book that isnt attached to a very large company, its just not worth it. I say this every year, and Ill say it again, a book doesnt deserve to even be rated here or anyplace else without 3-4 years under its belt and passing all the other criteria listed above. Next time we talk about deep pockets around here, lets see millions, not medium-high 6's.

When I asked about RIO (and adamently said I do not KNOW anything) I mentioned ...

#1,#6, #9 and caught hell. (wasnt about a prediction or who was right or wrong)

Maybe if you get a final legitimate list of "signs" you and the mods can use it to qualify posts as worthy of not getting moved. Could work for ya. 3 or more signs?

I recommend you change "suddenly removes advertising" to sudden change in marketing like cold calling or soliciting for deposits.

first sign that a book will be in trouble is when the shrink posts they will be the 'next greatest thing'

Good list of warning signs shrink.

billdozer,

interesting idea. i think it could possibly work, but there will be situations where people with agendas abuse the system.

Does this place still care enough to do that?

Thats alot of control to give to the people. What happens when a site goes down for 3 weeks but hits reduced juice? Or when someone gets cold called by a shop who doesn't usually do that and also has transfers stopped with a neighbor?

Would the site say... Yep! Bingo but we are still gonna send people off the search engine in?

I'm under the vague impression that when lurkers and passers by see the ads they assume the list is accepted by it's body of posters.

For everyone who has time to chat on here there are 10 "gamblers" with real jobs who could be getting taken, then bitching how offshores are crooks.

Enter republicans.....

RPM,

Really, What the hell are you talking about? Are you misreading my post or is this an attempt to bump it? I'll post it again so you can reread it.

No offense but it sucks when someone makes a point that gets extinguished by a redirecting good guy comment.

6- IF A SPORTS BOOK IS REFUSED TRANSFERS BY OTHER OPERATORS, IT MAY BE IN TROUBLE...

This is the number one sign.

The ultimate measure of any entity's financial wherewithal is the borrowing power or simply put what grade is their debt. We do not have the luxury of formal gradings, transfers as a form of short term credit fulfill this function pretty well. But it is not foolproof either as AcesGold xfers were widely accepted almost up to the end. I figure the books learned from that though and are much mroe wary these days.

A current list of which books Spiro does Xfers with is almost as valuable as the debt ratings S&P and Moody's provide for the rest of the world's industry and commerce.

Don't think this stuff is mega important? Both credit services started dropping Enron's debt ratings approx 6 months prior to the shit hitting the fan.

This is true. And not just for forums. There are many sites that do not have forums, but have sportsbooks advertising and when a newbie sees that banner, they do assume safety, because they are not aware of the rogue environment.
