Conan,

I included Fresno as they were just one of the schools (non-BCS) that popped in my mind when I was typing that smartass response. I know that, here and there....every once in a while....a Fresno...Southern Miss....ECU.....or whoever is going to crack a top 25-30 recruiting poll.....and one of these teams will crack a top 25 AP/Coaches Poll....or a top 15-20 BCS poll....but it's rare....very rare. So, as I was saying....the recruiting rankings DO tend to come back around to the "real" top 25 AP/BCS/Coaches poll teams. Although there are a few players who slip through the recruiting cracks.....most of these "stud" HS kids are worthy of their rankings. You can sit here today and say that ANY kid who signed w/ UF, Oklahoma, USC, UCLA, LSU, Bama, etc... is a "stud". The classes these schools (and many other schools - Ohio State, UGA, Michigan, UNC, etc) put together are full of studs - TODAY. A year from now? 2 years from now? Sure, some of them will be "duds". But TODAY? They are "studs"! That's all I'm saying..... TODAY! That's all!

I don't think you should include Fresno on that list Coach. They were supposed to be pretty good last year but their HC Pat Hill spends too much time looking for respect with his head up his ass. Besides that, I think Boise is the only WAC team that could make it on a list like this. I'm a bit surprised that they didn't... either that or they are down at #30 or something like that.

You'd think someone like BYU or Utah might do pretty well too considering that they are "religious" based like Notre Dame is. But if you happened to notice, Notre Dame is the only non-BCS conference school that made the list however they are a special case.

your giving fresno too much credit. he had it right to begin with, they are the same tier as the mac and sun belt teams

well the WAC is better on average but id have taken CMU or Miami(Oh) even over fresno half of the past 10 seasons. pat hill is 76-51 in 11 yrs playing several cupcakes each year...thats not a quality program, be serious

Hill had to stop taking the partial qualifiers. You can trace the decline directly to this decision.

PS nice job by your team in recruiting. Tenn will be on the rise.

Michigan and Texas A&M surprised me. Especially w/ all the negativity surrounded Rich Rod. But A&M? Who saw that coming?

Can someone post the 26-50 (or more) rankings?
Coach...Texas A&M's class really doesn't surprise me. This school always recruited well until Francione got there. When he installed the option attack I think he drove off a lot of prospects. But with Sherman there bringing back a much more wide open offense I think he's going to get some good recruits for here on out. Recruiting 5 star RB Christine Michael was a good get for them. The Aggies used to recruit very well from Louisiana. And it looks like their starting to do it again, along with the Houston & Port Arthur areas. Very fertile areas for recruiting. I noticed he's getting a lot of speed on defense too. So the Aggies are probably on their way up. The only question about them is Sherman, and how good of a coach he really is. We should know more about him in the next couple of years.

Ducks, I don't understand what you mean by "partial qualifiers" Can you explain it? I am interested in your view of Fresno's decline.

I see it partially due to Hill's over ambitious scheduling vs big names with too little importance placed on his conference schedule. I think he's just an attention slut. Naturally they will experience too many let downs as a result of that. But PH doesn't think so.

Fresno used to make a living on guys that could not gain admittance into the bigger BCS schools either via grades or "legal" issues. Talented guys but trouble.

The admittance standards were raised in part due to Tark the sharks issues back in the early 2000's. Hill runs a clean program but this made it harder to get the studs that he used to bring in.

I bet you there wouldn't be 9 if those 9 didn't play about 30 cupcakes between them every year. I'd say most of them would pick up one or 2 more losses each every season. Then how many would still make the top 25?

LSU had 5 losses and were still the #1 class on ESPN. :103631605

It really is simple:

The best HS recruits go to the SEC, the best teams play in the SEC, the best teams from the SEC win the most BCS titles, the most NFL draft picks come from the SEC, and the most NFL players come from the SEC.
