Just ignore the troll.
Its a good thread but you could work on the thread title a little better though

Yes you need a bonafide title like

WNBA is guaranteed to be a first Ballot HOF sporting event as their ratings surge to record highs!

You gotta write headline like our resident idol worshipper Whopper Chopper.

For NHL/NBA/MLB, running all at the same time while NFL is on is difficult. Media just going to cover your sports a lot less, NFL is just king over everything.

Even if a game isn't on the same night as NFL game, if people are already watching NFL, how much more sports can the average person really watch? So it is a cannibalizing effect.

100%

People just like football more

sunday had an nfl regular season game, nba finals close out game, and ALCS.

more people watched football

Didn’t help that nba game was a blowout. Only reason I watched was b/c my favorite team was playing.

@):mad:That's hilarious.

People are sick of those horses protesting and shyt. Horse Lives Matters all over the track. That's why their ratings are down. They will learn!!!

I am sure that some have turned off particular sports due to social justice messaging, but this thread proves a point that I have been arguing with friends for a few months now. The Coronavirus and related lockdowns have changed many people's habits. I don't think the general population is as interested in sports anymore. Maybe they realize there is more to life than that and are spending more time with family, doing outdoor hobbies, etc. Also, the train wreck that is our political system right now is drawing a lot of people in. Would love to see CNN and Fox News ratings lately.

The betting community, aka the users of this site, are a bad sampling for sports viewership. I think most here are watching due to wagering, and that probably won't change no matter what.

From Peter King.

Found this interesting

5. I think this poll, from the Marist (N.Y.) Center for Sports Communications/Marist Poll, really surprised me: Of 1,560 random Americans at the end of September, 46 percent say they are watching fewer live sports events on TV. That goes against anything we’d normally think. In a pandemic, when people are forced indoors and forced in many instances to be isolated, wouldn’t you figure people would be watching more sports, not less? There wasn’t one dominant reason for the decline, said Jane McManus, longtime sportswriter and director of the Marist Center for Sports Communication—though 35 percent of those polled said concern about gathering with friends to watch sports was a prime reason; “athletes speaking out on political issue” was 32 percent, with the interest in the flood of news/election coverage making respondents 20 percent less likely to watch live sports. “We live in complicated times,” McManus told me. “Viewership traditions have been upended. Say you might have a tradition of watching the football game with your elderly father. Maybe now you’re staying away from your elderly father because you’re being careful about COVID-19.”

6. I think the one other striking point of comparison was the decline of those who consider themselves fans of football. A 2017 Marist poll found that 67 percent of respondents were football fans. The 2020 poll found that only 52 percent were. (Baseball was down, from 51 to 37 percent; basketball down from 44 to 37 percent—odd considering the poll was taken this time in the midst of exciting playoffs.) McManus said: “I don’t think you can isolate on any one thing right now, except that it seems people just have less bandwidth to deal with sports. For instance, I don’t think 67 to 52 for football is forever. Maybe you lost your job, you’re dealing with unemployment, your life is totally different than it was. I just think people’s focus is fractured, and the erosion is happening for every reason.”

It's forever. A lot of people figured out during the sports shutdown that they can actually live without three or four hours in front of TV. Personally, I can bet on whatever game I like, but it is far less likely that I will watch other than football. The NBA especially is unwatchable with the political statements and the announcers following the company line. Baseball has been dying for years and the NHL will maintain at the level they have sustained for about 20 years albeit last among the majors in the US.

I still find football the most fun to watch. Especially when a bunch of games are going on at once. I could have a $20 bet and be happy.

Baseball, i can only watch if i have money on the game (unless favorite teams is playing). Funny, I had a $200 on the rays/astros over on friday and watched an Impractical Jokers marathon with my kids during the game

I really don't understand and dislike all the hostility that consumes this site

Sometimes I get it, some threads and some responses and a few posters illicit such

But we're seeing it in every thread, on every topic, even against good and respectful posters, even in off color threads
