No I wouldn't want to be in that situation, who would? And if there are people that get mistaken for terrorists, then I'm sorry but I'm glad we are at least checking them out. How would you feel if your kids went to NYC and some suicide bomber blew em up? A guy that "maybe" was a terrorist, but we couldn't get that info because it was against his rights? Would you be mad at our gov or would you understand?
Assuming that there really was not enough evidence to arrest the man and there was no legal way to find out and stop him (not very likely, if you already suspect someone and he still can carry out his mission then you probably did something wrong) then yes, I would understand. It certainly wouldn't lessen the pain but I wouldn't blame the government.
I strongly belief that the danger that terrorism presents is far too small to waive important civil rights in order to fight it, partly for moral reasons but even more because I don't want to be 'safe' if it means living in a police state.
People like you don't mind just because they believe
