I have faxed a page from my passport rather than a DL. Advantages are, no address or phone number shows. A fax copy of one page of a passport is absolutely useless to anyone else with any ideas of fraud.
I would not send a copy of my DL because all the books I deal with have a PO Box for my mailing address. No one has my actual residence address and never will.
