Huge sports fans but I've been cutting back to watching

1) my favorite team
2) Games in which I have larger wagers

I have bet 4 baseball games so far, 1 college fball, 0 hockey, and zero nba. Never bet much hockey. In a normal year I would have made hundreds of baseball bets, dozens of nba bets, and would have bet most of the college fball played so far. I have been losing respect steadily over the years with rule changes for the various sports but I have grown to hate the players for all of their poorly thought out decisions to go political. I have not watched one game in 2020 and have no plans to.

Without gambling and Fantasy Football would the NFL viewership even be 25% of what it is.

Golf is the only sport I'm watching right now. Normally I would be excited about college football. With Pac 12 not playing , my interest level dropped. Once Herbie started crying on season preview , he pushed me all the way out. I don't mind skipping the year. Better things to do

I haven't bet on baseball since the first day of the playoffs. Zero NBA bets. Some hockey. NFL i will bet a few games but will not turn it on. Stopped betting tennis. Been increasing the vid poker gambling bigtime and it has been very profitable.

Sports will always do fine. The people truly offended by boycotts and protests are mostly older people. Leagues don’t care about marketing to individuals who will be dead or in nursing homes in next decade. Their grandkids follow the sports and buy all the merch with the old people’s money.

well they certainly don't cater to penniless paupers without 5 cents to their name

Personally I think NFL is in a good spot for viewers. The SJ movement is perfect timing to do their part. Eyes will be on TV to see “the car wreck” to say. Curiosity will have people watch to see what stuff they do. Also a big gap in time where people haven’t had much to focus on as a getaway via CV and BLM stuff.

Fans not being allowed is a gift to the NFL. They don’t have to worry about low attendance for games looking bad. Or national tv showing 75k fans boo upon actions they take. This is what would make them look bad imo.

As far as targeting younger audiences, no way. Youth doesn’t watch sports. Times are different and they just don’t care to watch. They are content with seeing a highlight or surfing social media for their part in being in touch. I don’t

I would guess the older 30-60 age is the biggest financial influence. And more conservative, Republican and capitalism viewers/fans. I believe next year will be the big change if the wallet is hit with significant influence.

DFS and Betting is a big positive for NFL that will always help.

Event attendance in big markets like Boston are defined by corporate sales. Don't know the percentages, but a lot of those people who you see yelling and shouting at every Professional sporting event are corporate season ticket holders and/or their guests.

Will they turn in their tickets for philosophical reasons?

Will covid change the way they entertain?

Will guests continue to want to be entertained in this manner for the same reasons?

That's me. And it's killing me not to watch the Celtics.

It'll will kill me a little more starting Thursday. I love the NFL. But I ain't going or watching.

Don’t torture yourself man .
You letting the bad guys win .

If it’s honestly torture for you not to watch you are letting these people affect your life negatively .

I can’t imagine you going an entire year without wTching the pats or a possible Boston/LA final.

You only hurting yourself .
