Bernie Sanders says that colleges are deeply rooted in structural racism - not sure exactly that the fuk that means - but I thought colleges/universities were notorious for ultra liberal thinking

The problem is obvious. They have been causing problems for decades. They will never change. Why has Africa been a shithole for 100 years?

Protests breaking out all over college campuses huh? You don't say! College campuses NEVER used to protest before. Hide the women and children!
Exactly. People on this forum are showing their age. Old fogies. If this were the late 60s, they'd be bitching about those fraidy cats that don't want to go to Nam and fight for our country. And that damn loud music they listen to while smoking that damn wacky tobaccy. This world is coming to an end. Get a haircut. If we would have had forums back then, Willie and the boys on here would have bitching about Woodstock, the Stones and hooray for Nixon.

According to Wiki, 58k Americans killed in Vietnam --- with another 153k wounded-in-action.

What is the issue now? There aren't enough "safe spaces" on campus? Even though a college campus is probably the safest space for anybody, regardless of race/gender/religion/orientation?

(not saying colleges are 100% safe, and they certainly have a history of hushing-up sexual/violent crimes --- but all things considered, most campus communities are isolated fantasy zones, free from the burdens of real-world life)

So in the 1970s, the fear was "Hey, I don't want a feces-covered punji stick piercing my buttocks. And help me understand, why are we fighting in this small Asian country?"

Now, the fear is "Hey, I was walking to my Accounting class --- and I think some people gave me a questionable stare? Kinda like a glance, or maybe a roll-of-the-eyes? I don't feel safe, but I know the solution --- let's fire every white male administrator!"

There was a lot of violence in the 1960s and 70s, but now there is none, so that proves these protests are effective.

Are you inferring that college kids protesting ended the Vietnam War?

Can College kids protesting have that much influence on World events?

No, Funk Monkey was inferring that

First, it would be imply --- a writer or speaker implies, and a reader/listener infers.

Second, I wasn't implying college protests had any impact on the Vietnam War. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. Wasn't my point at all.

My point:

* Vietnam protests = thousands of Americans were dying (in a war that wasn't clearly defined)
* Mizzou/Yale protests = due to some offensive language, students claim their lives & emotional well-being are in jeopardy
