The Panthers rank fifth in points allowed at 18.7 and third in total defense behind Denver and the surging Seattle Seahawks.
Arthur Blank has "complete confidence" in Dan Quinn despite a 1-7 record over the last 8 games after a 5-0 start. "He's going to be a great head coach for us for many years," Blank told ESPN's Vaughn McClure. Quinn, for his part, called the Falcons' most recent loss (38-0 to Carolina) "totally unacceptable."

Marcus Mariota had a 41-yard touchdown reception in the Titans’ loss at the Jets. Mariota has scored touchdowns of at least 40 yards via passing (long of 61 yards), rushing (long of 87 yards) and receiving (long of 41 yards) this year. No one else has done it since Walter Payton in 1983.
Marvin Lewis says of Andy Dalton "this was news we imagined ... it was the best-case scenario." Without having to have surgery, this is a healing situation for Dalton. Not about pain management, Lewis adds. He also didn't seem to rule out the possibility Cincy would sign a veteran QB to the roster.
