Not to quibble but it's "they're animals." But I digress.....

Are they animals?

Well let me say this:

I used to work for the Phila Rec Dept. It was my Summer job in 1977 and 1978. You had to know somebody high up in the 'D' Party to get those jobs. Likewise my PA Turnpike job Summers of 1979-1981 (and he wonders after inhaling all that Shit why 35 years later his nose bleeds). All connections to D Party or you don't work.

Oops I digress again.... Back to 'The Animals'.
When I worked at the Rec Dept I was in NE Philly. Back then it was a largely safe neighborhood. On the days I goofed though, which was everyday (I worked hard at night as I ran the Men's B-Ball League but I played hoops and went swimming on my day shifts) my supervisor would joke, "I'm going to transfer you to 5th and Diamond.... with The Animals! (LMAO)

The Animals (Part 2)
My Dad was a pharmacist for 45 years. From the late 60s to the late 70s the store he worked was in Kensington.....with 'The Animals.' I worried for him. He was not safe down there. He stood behind a cash register and in front of Quaaludes and Secanol, etc. IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A LOT OF ANIMALS.
When he left that job and moved to a store on County Line Road in Mont County I stopped worrying about him so much. I was away at college, and yes suburban pharmacies are robbed as well. But at least he was away from..... 'The Animals.'
I've been in south philly a million times....5 uncles and 13 cousins live in the city. All work or retired and they just love the city....are bad sections around? Of course.....but in many of those "inner cities" they have great examples of success, family and community.

The problem is Willie and many republicans think that financial success defines a person.....and it doesn't. I've met as many rich scumbags as I've had a poor ones. Also, federal poverty levels are not defined as those making below 50k a year.

Yes, they are most certainly animals - no different than having a dog.

Dogs are dependents - you have to care for them, feed them, house them, take to them to the vet, pay all their bills and make all their decisions for them. Same with people who choose govt dependency - independent working individuals pay for everything!

So yes, in practice a dependent poor person sucking off the govt tit is an animal or child.

Independence is the essence of adulthood. A healthy adult human being isn't supposed to be a dependent. That ain't normal. So a healthy society shouldn't tolerate dependency.

Ridiculous!

I was speaking in terms of where the places are with the most risk of being jumped by a pack of animals. OK, let me stop clowning - I agree with Willie's statistics in general. I also agree with him about the Peters and Pauls in this country. People will vote for a party if they've been sitting on their ass and their vote allows them to continue sitting on their ass, whether they reside in North Philly or Hill Billy - human nature.

I was actually mingling two issues that might be related albeit unimportant to the topic of this thread - the safety of neighborhoods, and the propensity of their populations to pull the R or D lever. That said there are plenty of hard-working, contributing members of urban society. Basically I was just relating a little of my life experience and wanted to participate in one of your likely 2016 bump threads.

The people who are jumping and attacking people.....do not vote. Conservative media way over estimates the amount of slackers that vote. Many of the people who sit on their ass all day and collect.....aren't even registered. But Fox News will take a welfare scammer or someone saying Obama phone and they think that's how everybody is.....when in fact that is the small minority of people.

for the record, in case somebody doesn't know this, I grew up in a poorer urban area and I'm proud of my roots. It all contributed to the person I am today.

I lived in the projects when my father first retired from the Navy

My father, who was orphaned, ran away and joined the Navy at age 17. He's a high school drop out

My mother grew up in war torn Italy, she had like a sixth grade education.

I played hoops 24/7 on city playgrounds with black kids. Anyone who thinks I don't understand the inner-city blights is delusional. I know them better than most, I lived the dream

So when talking about the inner-city and their tendencies and their problems, I'm not being judgmental, I'm just citing facts
