Run, this is the thing about realignment that many people don't get. There are two different mindsets going on here. Us fans, the coaches and the AD's are thinking sports when it comes to realignment. Most college Presidents are thinking academics and how they would fit in and improve academically in a new conference, with sports taking a backseat. This is the way it's always been with Boren. And it's the reason why OU isn't in the SEC right now. The question will be who wins out in the end, Boren or the rest of us...

True. And just like that Barry Trammel's article shows up. Maybe it's just typical media days chatter, but feels like this aspect is gaining an audience.

When the PAC12 presidents game Larry Scott the go ahead, it was to find like minded schools academically the were proficient at sports. It's why they were going after Texas, CU, Utah (already do research with them) along with Tech, OU, OSU. For AD's its all about TV dollars, for Presidents it's all about research/grant dollars and prestige in the academic community.
