the Left seems to present facts and the Right argue and do the ol "macho kick ass in Iraq" while none have served or dont have the courage to enlist

...while those that HAVE served or have the courage to enlist are simply promoted by the liberals to the ranks of "baby-killers" or "Bush drones" or "Oppressors" or just plain "stupid" (that are lucky they're not spit upon, as NBC News "military analyst Bill Arkin recently suggested). You liberals with this "serve or shutup" mantra makes you all sound like you have paper assholes, because the vast majority of liberals have never served their country, never will, and will only serve interests that reach the end of their noses.

Mr McCain .... please explain to our Vets!

John McCain Voted Against Walter Reed Vets
Posted by Mike Gehrke on February 23, 2007 at 05:41 PM

Recently, an investigation by the Washington Post found deteriorating conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, including a “dilapidated” and roach-infested outpatient facility, and complaints that “a nightmarish bureaucracy has left wounded veterans in need.” Defense Secretary Robert Gates called the conditions “unacceptable” and called for an immediate investigation. {ABC News, 2/23/2007}

2008 Presidential contender Senator John McCain, one of the most outspoken supporters of Bush’s plan to send more American troops to Iraq, was equally outspoken about Walter Reed. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McCain repeated harsh criticism of Donald Rumsfeld and told Georgia Legislators that "the fruits of Rumsfeld's policy were on display at Walter Reed military hospital in Washington... It's well chronicled that the war was mismanaged" {Atlanta Journal Constitution, 2/22/2007}

Why then, did McCain vote last year against providing more money for military and veterans hospitals? In February 2006, McCain voted against a Senate amendment that would have provided for at least $19 billion for these facilities, paid for by eliminating tax cuts for the wealthiest earners. {Senate Roll Call Vote 7, 2/2/06}.

Another example of John McCain caring more about jumping on the bandwagon than the tune hes been carrying all along.

Anti: how dumb is your commentary?

because the vast majority of liberals have never served their country, never will, and will only serve interests that reach the end of their noses.

Prominent Republicans

  • Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY - did not serve (1)
  • Senate Assistant Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-MI - avoided the draft, did not serve.
  • Senate Republican Conference Chairman Jon Kyl, R-AZ - did not serve.
  • National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair John Ensign, R-NV - did not serve.
  • House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-OH - did not serve.
  • House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, R-MO - did not serve.
  • House Republican Conerence Chair Adam Putnam, R-FL - did not serve.
  • House Republican Policy Committee Thaddeus McCotter, R-MI - did not serve.
  • National Republican Congressional Committee Chair Tom Cole, R-OK - did not serve.
  • Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani - did not serve.
  • Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney - did not serve in the military but did serve the Mormon Church on a 30-month mission to France.
  • Senator John McCain - McCain's naval honors include the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. Why did the Bush campaign smear him so in 2000? At least Senators Cleland (D-GA), Kerry (D-MA), Kerrey (D-NE), Robb (D-VA) and Hagel (R-NE) defended him.
  • Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert - avoided the draft, did not serve.
  • Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey - avoided the draft, did not serve.
  • Former House Majority Leader Tom Delay - avoided the draft, did not serve (1). "So many minority youths had volunteered ... that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself."
  • Former House Majority Whip Roy Blunt - did not serve
  • Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist - did not serve. (An impressive medical resume, but not such a friend to cats in Boston.)
  • Rick Santorum, R-PA, formerly third ranking Republican in the Senate - did not serve. (1)
  • George Felix Allen, former Republican Senator from Virginia - a supporter of Nixon and the Vietnam war, did not serve. (1)
  • Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld - served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as an aviator and flight instructor. (1) Served as President Reagan's Special Envoy to the Middle East and met with Saddam Hussein twice in 1983 and 1984.
  • GW Bush - decided that a six-year Nat'l Guard commitment really means four years. Still says that he's "been to war." Huh?
  • VP Cheney - several deferments (1, 2), the last by marriage (in his own words, "had other priorities than military service") (1)
  • Former Att'y Gen. John Ashcroft - did not serve (1, 2); received seven deferment to teach business ed at SW Missouri State <!--
And They Call Him General -->
  • Jeb Bush, Florida Governor - did not serve. (1)
    werent-soldiers.jpg
  • Karl Rove - avoided the draft, did not serve (1), too busy being a Republican.
  • Former Speaker Newt Gingrich - avoided the draft, did not serve (1, 2)
  • Former President Ronald Reagan - due to poor eyesight, served in a noncombat role making movies for the Army in southern California during WWII. He later seems to have confused his role as an actor playing a tail gunner with the real thing.
  • "B-1" Bob Dornan - avoided Korean War combat duty by enrolling in college acting classes (Orange County Weekly article). Enlisted only after the fighting was over in Korea.
  • Phil Gramm - avoided the draft, did not serve, four (?) student deferments
<!-- -->
  • Former Senator Bob Dole - an honorable man. http://www.bobdole.org/bio/wwII.php
  • Chuck Hagel - two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, Vietnam. http://www.senate.gov/~hagel/Information/bio.htm
  • Duke Cunningham - nominated for the Medal of Honor, received the Navy Cross, two Silver Stars, fifteen Air Medals, the Purple Heart, and several other decorations Recently entered plea bargain on felony charges of bribery, etc. etc.
  • Senator Jeff Sessions U.S. Army Reserves, 1973-1986
  • Colin Powell. What are we to make of Powell? On the one hand, a long career as a military manager. On the other hand, accused of covering up the My Lai massacre. Back on that first hand, one of the seemingly sane voices in this administration when it comes to Iraq (or at least he used to be). On the other hand, a clear hypocrite ("I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well-placed... managed to wangle slots in Reserve and National Guard units...")
  • Representative Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD), served in USMC in Vietnam; wounded in action.
THROW IN HANNITY AND LIMBAUGH WHO ALSO DID NOT SERVE AND SEEMS, LITTLE MAN, LIKE BUNCH OF CHICKENHAWKS HAVE THE IDEA OF NOT SERVING DOWN TO A SCIENCE!!

  • Paul Wolfowitz, did not serve (1, 2)
  • Former Representative Vin Weber, did not serve (1, 2)

  • George Pataki, did not serve (1, 2)
  • Spencer Abraham, did not serve
  • John Engler, did not serve (1, 2)

  • Senator Ted Stevens, R-AK, WW II pilot, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Air Medals, and the Yuan Hai medal awarded by the Republic of China.
  • Sen. John Warner, R-VA - Served in the Navy 1945-1946 as a RM3; reenlisted in the USMC 1950, 10 years service in Marine Corps Reserve, retired as Captain.

And I served in the USAF. Why don't liberals have to serve to have an opinion on the war?

You aren't debating an issue, you're trying to personally attack and discredit the source of the opinion with shit like "shutup or serve", and it makes you sound like an idiot.

What if I said that you're opinion is meaningless and isn't credible because you are not in the military and you're not in government, therefore YOU are on the outside looking in and your only sources of information are left-leaning MSM and leftwing blog sites? That kind of disrespect and disregard for others opinions would make you feel we were wasting our time with each other, wouldn't it?

DHA...your last two cut-and-pastes-from-left-wing-blog-sites prove my point about you. Instead on posting war-opposing Democrats' service to their country, your knee-jerk reaction is another tactless carp on Republican/conservatives. You already bore me. I can't swing a cat these days without hitting three people just like you. Later....

Doc,whyd they kick you out of EOG?

60% of Americans polled just last week think the US can achieve stability in Iraq and that pulling out now is wrong.

What ONE THING GOOD has happened in Iraq???

The Right I have "interfaced" in person or via the internet can't name one thing POSTIVE THING THAT BUSH HAS ACCOMPLISED IN IRAQ except the standard "talking points" of:

"We took out a brutal dictator ..." REALLY?? YOU DO MEAN REAGAN'S DICTATOR SINCE THE RIGHT ARMED THIS GUY TO THE MAX ???

HAVE SOME FUN THIS WEEKEND .... ASK THEM TO NAME ONE:

* Roughly 3200 Dead American soldiers
* Iraq is a country the President ADMITTED PUBLICALLY had nothing to do
with the events of 9-11
* Over 600,000 Iraqis killed
* The countries infrastructure has been gutted
* Billions of dollars not accounted for by the GOP buddy base
* Bush has started a Civil War and our brave kids are dying daily in a
country where the IRAQIS want our troops to LEAVE THEIR COUNTRY
* We have dropped enough DU to make this land unliveaveable and now
record number of babies being born are deformed

MY GOD .... AMERICA SHOULD APOLOLGIZE TO THIS COUNTRY INSTEAD OF HEARING BUSH STATE HOW THE IRAQIS OWE A "DEBT OF GRATITUDE"

Quit living in the past man. Haven't you heard that Iran wants nukes? I'm just saying we should oblige and give them what they want. Then bring in the dozers and build some McDonald's and Wal Marts so peace can thrive.:suomi:

You like cheap products and want everyone to live like trailor trash like Americans do now. Good for you and your ignorant post that shows what kind of human you really are.

You must be 1 of these ignorant Americans who really enjoy buying worthless junk and food for less (why's that so important) and that is a scary thought.

You must really need these "save money and buy junk" corporation trash sellers because your America is so strong!
