stallworth hit a guy who just happened to step out in front of his car.

i am of the belief that he would have hit him even if he was stone cold sober. its called an accident.

plax decided he needed a gun to clubbin with . i think its a good message being sent to all those bangers who feel the need to strap one on as they leave the house .

the next fucking guy who has his gun discharge in a club should get 25 years .

The proper way to have an illegal firearm in NYC can be seen in the 2007 movie 'The Brave One' starring Jodie Foster & Terrence Howard. :>Grin>

At an average cost of $30,000+ per year to house and legally care for a prison inmate, you would then be calling for you and me and your fellow taxpayers to underwrite $300,000 for each CFM. And last I looked around, there's an endless line of CFMs in most communities, eh?

they arent all carrying loaded illegal weapons into night clubs. and they also didnt hit the athletic lottery and then go on to fuck it up.

So people who have achieved high levels of success in life and then do something stupid really get you, eh? Cool.

I'm a bit on the opposite side most days.

I see someone who has not accomplished much in life and has made a lot of dumb errors and then they continue to do the same dumb stuff and wonder why life is not any better.

i dont concern myself with people who accomplish nothing and then make it worse by doing stupid things . maybe its the fact they do stupid stuff which has made it hard for them to accomplish anything.

yes , people who have made more money than they can spend, doing something to throw it all away doesnt bother me per'se , i just cant believe how incredibly stupid they must be.

I'm pretty sure the idea of sending folks to prison is two fold - first being to protect the public and second as a deterrent. I don't think sending this guy away for 16 months accomplishes either... Most guys with a concealed weapon intend to do harm (or to protect themselves while taking part in some OTHER illegal activity) and thus are not going to be deterred by this famous NFL star going to the pen. His sentence is also clearly not designed to protect the public, as I'm pretty sure he's not going to do the same thing twice after almost maiming himself.

And as others have pointed out, average citizens now have to pay for it. Why not confine him to his own fuckin house for 2 years so that he can feed and heat himself, and give him a FULL TIME job doing community service.

Just sayin.

wasnt his gun registered in miami where he is from and it just expired or something and he didnt have it registered in new york? if that is true that is fucked up. same thing happened to a guy around my way. he had all these guns in his house and the license expired i think he has to go to court for it.

another thing they already are saying that him being famous hurt him more then helped him in this case. they were trying to send a message. im willing to bet in new york they get a lot of gun cases but if you have it previously registered in another state i dont know if its that big of a deal in my opinion.

On a relative scale, I'm confident they're no more or less stupid than you and I when we've squandered a great opportunity in our own lives.

Having a permit in another state will not exempt someone being barred from possessing a handgun in New York City.

There are permits given in NYC, but only on a very limited basis to people for very specific reasons.

Everyone else is spot out and it's been that way for several decades now.

I think that sentence is BS.
You're 100% correct. But the laws in NY are very strict were guns are concerned and there isn't a lot of wiggle room in terms of minimum sentencing.

He should have gone to a jury trial.
You're 100% WRONG! The facts in the case are not in dispute. Plax admitted as much when he testified to the grand jury basically begging for mercy. Once he was indicted by the grand jury, his goose was cooked. Plax is paying his high-priced Manhattan mouth-piece a lot of money. He was going to lose in court and his lawyer knew this. The sentence in NY is 3.5 years MINIMUM.

His lawyer kept hoping to get a one year deal. The DA's office, probably on orders from the mayor of NYC, insisted on two years. If you belive the reports out today, the DA's office told Plax and his lawyer today was the last day the two year deal was going to be left on the table.

It came down to 2 years (16-20 months) or 3.5 MINIMUM. At the end of the day, it's was a pretty easy decision...

The Manhattan District Attorney's office is very stern about creating plea bargains, with under 10% of criminal cases going to trial.

It's essential they get plea bargains in over 90% of cases or their court system would collapse
