The plane takes off, physics backs this up, mythbusters on discovery channel will air an episode on 1/30/08 to document this... There are many sources which explain the dynamics of this.

But you are saying that the belt is moving backwards as fast as the plane is moving forward which means the plane in reality is not moving forward right?

Yeah and the same Einstein who posted this:
Did you quote and respond to the same comment twice? Geez man, RR gets more retarded every day. First we got this BS and now spontaneous generation whats next?

Notice the Sun thread was posted 30 seconds later? That thread was part of "RubberRoomers are Idiots" trilogy.

wrong, it means the wheels are moving twice as fast, the plane does not use the wheels for acceleration like a car does. the belt could be turning 5 times as fast and the plane would still take off( provided the wheels dont fall apart)

Is it too late to edit my responses out of this thread? I thought the idea was the plane was standing still. :ohno:

Too be honest with you we never covered the conveyor belt theory, you forgot to add the "This is only a riddle if you are a retard" quote.

You win this time Mike, you are still the gayest thing on the internet though.

A plane is standing on a runway that can move (some sort of band conveyer). The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyer moves in the opposite direction. This conveyer has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyer to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction). Can the plane take off?

Thanks for making me look bad, jerk.

Airplane wheels do not generate any force, in fact they just roll based on the force of the engines on the wings. The wheels on the conveyor belt or anything else have absolutely nothing to do with this situation, all that matters is that thanks to the fucking fundamental way airplanes work(which you claimed to have learned in elementary school I believe) the vessel itself is traveling at its normal speed relative to the ground and the air, thus producing the lift necessary to take off. You are an idiot, go kill yourself.

No because of friction on the wheels & the axle the plane would be going backwards & the plane cannot fly backwards....Turn the plane around the other way & it might take off & then crash.
