I base everything on what they did without juice; Bods is automatic, Clemens is close to the line but I'd put him in.
Bonds is not automatic.

I would base his numbers on his time in Pittsburg then his early years in SF. As soon as his head started getting bigger, then I would end his consideration.

Those numbers aren't HOF worthy

Yes to both. Once the writers voted Gaylord Perry in, they lost the moral authority to exclude cheaters or suspected cheaters.

they both should be in. It is just way too hard deciding who should/shouldn't be in from that whole era.

They may have taken shortcuts to get there but they are two of the best players in the history of the game. I mean it isn't like its a secret they cheated, just let them in and stop being sanctimonious about it. It's just entertaitment where a guy hits a ball with a stick.

At the end of the day isn't the HOF a baseball museum in Cooperstown? Seems like it is running the risk of irrelevancy if it doesn't even make mention of the contributions so many guys from 1990-2005 had on the game. To just shun an entire era of players because of roids seems stupid.

You don't see the NFL HOF excluding the Steelers accomplishments when half their team was on the sauce in the 70s.

Through 1998, before his head got big and his stats started getting ridiculous, Bonds head 411 HR's and over 1,000 RBI's at the age of 33. He's automatic first ballot.

If everybody who hit 411 and had 1000 RBIs is in, then I stand corrected.

If in your Senior year in High School a teacher who wants to look good let's you cheat on every test, are you going to?

I expect a large # of the people on this forum to say yes, but I wouldn't.

Say that "A" that you received allowed you to make The National Honor Society, how would you feel about taking that award with your family and children looking on 5 years after graduation?

I wouldn't be able to accept it.....but then again I wouldn't have cheated on every test to excel in the first place.

This analogy really doesn't work. If you cheat on a test you are guaranteed to get the answers right. If you cheat in baseball you are not guaranteed to be great. There are hundreds of guys who cheated and were still awful. Even the dumbest kid in class could cheat and get an A.

I never said "A" test. I was implying that a teacher was letting students cheat all year long.

If Binds and Clemens were really that good, then why did they need to cheat? There were plenty of players that didn't cheat.

Maybe my standards and morals are different than some others around here but I haven't seen a valid argument yet as to why we should honor and immortalize these people who clearly cheated to get to where they got to.

weird.... all votes in the poll is either "yes" on both or "no" on both

The options given are pretty stupid. I am not sure why there is no and no on both. I am pretty sure almost everyone who wonted no meant no on both but they didn't see the no on both....they read the question, clicked the thread and clicked no right away. If you ask all the no voters to read again and vote again i am pretty sure that almost all of them will change it to no on both.

Gaylord Perry cheated and even wrote a book about it and he is the HOF. Seems to me the baseball HOF is just a joke now.

No players in the HOF ever cheated?

Is that your argument?.....really?

If your wife cheats on you and you catch her, would you allow her to use that argument?
" Well, my friend cheated on her husband and he forgave her, so I'm not the only one. As a matter of fact, nevermind just forgiving me for sleeping around for years, I want you to honor me."

That still doesn't make it right.

Read my previous post (for the example I used)

What's right and what's wrong with this situation? The point I'm making is the baseball HOF is just a big fucking joke right now. Examples mean nothing right now because there are already many in the HOF that have either used PEDs or have cheated. They have no standards now as to what qualifies and what doesn't to get in. Bud Selig ruined this great game and he will go down as the worst commish in baseball history. Just my 2 cents.

Please let these guys openly use steroids. It is good for you and the sport. What is so wrong with steroids? I don't get it. I want my guys taking them. They work. If a guy doesn't take them and is in triple A, I question his desire.
