Damnitt MidMan! If anyone was gonna get some Pats/Browns action it should of been me! But you asked first so I guess I can't steal your thunder unless he wants to bet 1/2 with each of us...Although in my case its probably for the best, I don't have the best record of getting paid from winning bets on this site....

Realestate, interesting theory you got that this year is going to be the changing of the guard in the AFC. Honestly I'd be shocked if NE and Indy both took a backseat in the same year, think these two teams atleast are top notch for another 2-3 years and while Pitt has OL questions, feel similarly about them, although not as strong cause of the murderous schedule.

Also, what if DA struggles out of the gate like he struggled late last year? With the high expectations, the Quinn supporters will be barking pretty loud...

First off, I may not even take a bet because of fear of bad blood between people. Not that I'm saying he would not pay but I just would rather stay out of that situation the more and more I think about it.

Next about DA. I don't think he is a great QB, not yet at least. I'm not saying he will ever be great. But I think he will improve. Late last year was culminated by the intercetpion fest at Cincy. Keep in mind that the winds were at 30mph that day and any good cordinator would have used Lewis like a work horse that day. He was interception prone in Oregon and he showed it last year. But to his defense he was basically a rookie, playing his first full season. On top of that he was thrusted into the lineup after the week one trade of that worthless Frye. With Edwards, Winslow, Lewis and that O line, I think I'd look like a star out there. I'm done fighting over this, we all have our opinions about what the season has in store but none of us can see the future. And if you could you would probably be tout by now.:missingte

Thats weird, I didn't think we were fighting at all. Just having a discussion regarding football and the upcoming season. We disagreed on who would be a better team for the upcoming season, Pats or Browns.

Never at any point when I was responding to posts did I see feel it was an argument, just a discussion/debate.

Also, I don't understand the tout comment?

Listen, I don't think we should bet on principal that I don't think it would be too fair of a bet since Pats are favored in Vegas to win the SB and the Browns, while talented, have another elite team from the AFC in the Steelers within their division and the Pats have more/less a cakewalk into at least a one-game homefield advantage in the playoffs. Also, it can be hard getting someone to pay up on this forum, and I have been stiffed before on here, and I am sure the feeling for you goes both ways. If Patsfan wants to to bet with you, he can take the action.

I can see why you are excited about the Browns, because they came out of nowhere last year to be one of the better teams in the AFC after years of bad football, and I love Romeo from the time he was in the Pats organization. But the bottom line is, they still didn't make the playoffs last season, and even if they did this year, their inexperience in the playoffs I would imagine would keep them from reaching the Super Bowl this season, because I think it would take a experienced team with a veteran QB or defense to lead them into (most likely) Indianapolis, New England, or San Diego in an AFC championship game and pull out a win. Unless you are a completely dominant team, and I don't see any teams that will win every game this season, the scheduling is very important, and the Browns have a tough road to the playoffs, and that matters come playoff time because 1 or 2 regular season losses will be the differences between playing at home or playing a road playoff game with a bunch of players making their first postseason starts. There's been good discussion here, and no one will really know what happens until the season is underway.

Yeah, had to read it twice....

In all honesty, I think Browns will probably take a step back this year but Pittsburghs schedule is so stacked up that I could see Cle winning the division if they can get to 9-7 or so again..

Yeah, Pitt schedule is brutal but I really see them winning that division- Love Tomlin and the defense, and the fact is they have developed into one of the better offenses in the league. Ben has been one of the best players I have seen in the preseason, Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes have become a very good 1-2, and their running game was great last season, and they added Mendenhall. Losing Faneca might hurt them though, he held that O-line together.

I do really see them winning the division, and most likely the Browns winning one wild card and whoever doesn't come out on top between Indy/JAX will be the other WC.

NYJ's schedule is so easy that if they are half decent they should make the playoffs. That AFC South is pretty good so I could see those teams beating up one another, we'll see...

As far as Pitt, yeah I like them a lot and was actually happy Pats avoided them in the playoffs last year. Tough team to beat twice in the span of a month. However, their OL gaveup 47 sacks last year and they lost their best OL so that could be a major question mark. As far as Mendenhall goes, that kid looks like a monster and he should have Parkers job by late 2nd half this year, start of '09 at the latest....
