The problem with your argument is that Denver doesn't really have a good run defense. The only reason they are ranked high on run defense category is because most opponents abandon the run when they are down by 3 tds against Peyton manning. Denver's defense is not made up of run stuffing goal line stand type of players like the 49ers. They just benefit from playing opponents who have to be one dimensional against them.

Don't be fooled by the ranking. Denver's defense is NOT good.
and what makes you think that New England doesn't go down by 3TD's.........like last time they played ???? Denver will keep the foot on the gas this time.

You can bet on it. Oh I already did...... Denver 34-16

The problem with your argument that "The Pats found their running game against Indy" is to not factor in the strength of the opponent's run defense. Indy ranks 30th giving up 132 rushing yards per game and 27th in yards per rush attempt at 4.5. Denver ranks 5th (99.5) and 7th (3.9) in those same categories. Because New England does not really have a receiving threat who can stretch the field, Del Rio has the option to bring a safety (most likely Ihenacho who hits like a LB) into the box and play a 4-4 defense. NE not gonna be able to keep up if they are running into a formation like that.

Not to mention that was a home game against Indi, and this is a road game @ Den in the altitude.
No bet on this game for me at the moment, but not sure it matters a ton how good their running game looked last week at home against a bottom barrel run defense.

Exactly. That's what crazy explosive offenses are able to do. Force their opponent into being one dimensional.

Found this interesting:
Since the Patriots last SB victory, The Manning vs. Brady record is dead even at 4-4.

My concern for the Patriots is that I don't see how they're going to score in the redzone from the 5 yard line and back.

Run the ball. Play action. Screen or swing pass to vereen out of the backfield. He's practically another WR. I expect vereen to have a huge day tomorrow.

Bingo. Sometimes I feel like I'm on an island. Glad you understand this.

Play action , run the ball, pass? Are you saying Denvers D is a lock in the redzone?

Not at all, but from the 5 yard line and out to the 20, you think the Patriots can run well enough to score if they needed to? I don't. The Patriots rushing numbers as a whole were inflated last weekend due to Blount's one big run. Runs like that shouldn't come so easy against Denver as they did against Indy. All Blounts other scores were less than 5 yards.

Gronk was their moneymaker in the RZ. No one on the Patriots offense attacks the middle of the field in the RZ like Gronk did, which is where you're most likely to score down there if you don't have that premiere 1 on 1 receiver you can throw jump balls too, which NE doesn't have. Swing passes only work the edge and flatten the field. At some point they'll need someone to carve into the middle of that defense and make a play.

Edelman and Amendola do best working the edges on in towards the hash, but it works much better with more field. The condensed field in the RZ won't allow for those passes to come so easy.

You got one thing wrong, Serf.

Both Amendola and Edelman do their best work underneath in the middle, not on the edges.

Looks like Champ Bailey is gonna start at his natural left CB spot tomorrow. Never been to the SB in his stellar 15 year career

Champ Bailey (foot) doesn't expect to be limited in Sunday's AFC Championship Game.

With Chris Harris (knee) sidelined, Bailey will take on a larger role after being limited to just 29 snaps last week. He'll start at the left cornerback spot, opposite Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. "I'm ready for whatever they want me to do," Bailey said. "The pitch count doesn't exist this week. Whatever it takes."

I did a bad job of explaining. They line up on the edges/slot, but they run routes that are horizontal in nature. Nothing that presses the defense vertically. Those same plays underneath and the slants won't be easy in the RZ. They don't have the big bodies to block out the DB from making a play on slants and staying with underneath routes in the RZ will only lead to field goals. Just my thoughts on it. Unless they can get the goal to go down to be 3 yards or less, I think they leave points on the field.

I think the pats have a better defense then Denver currently. But then the flip side is Denver has the better offense.
