You are both wrong. Oregon State Beavers are gonna shock the world and go to the Holiday Bowl. Matt Moore is only going to throw 7 picks and Joe Newton will be 1st team all-american.

Why would you think a team that loses its heart and soul on defense is more legit than a team that gets almost everyone back, including most of the defense?

I think Oregon will find it's way when Dixon get's his game together. If he manages sooner than later, he'll manage the sooners. (I could have done better.) They have the OL of OL's this year in the Pac. Defense will be adequate. Offense will win games. Their schedule will kill them. So will ASU I'm afraid to say. Cal on the road in a revenge situation don't look good either.

But I hope you're right about the Beavers. Their schedule is great. 9-3 is possible 8-4 is very doable. Their only 2 tough road games are at Zona and UCLA. They should win one of those. I"d love to see them whup UCLA. I'm leaning that way for GOY. (They will have to get over losing to USC at Rieser the week before they go to UCLA. But who knows shit at this point?) They play Cal at home in Sept. They play the Sun Devils late in the year at Rieser too. If they win one of those 2 games, and Moore gets his act together, I'll see you in San Diego.

Come to think of it.. I'd give the Beavers a better chance to be the dark horse in the conference than the Wildcats. That schedule of theirs is very inviting.

WC,

you are definitely right that Ayoob did kill Cal last year...and they are even talking about him in the mix this year?...if that guy's QB'ing, I'm trusting Cal with zero of my dollars...

I had a great year fading Ayoob last season.

While Ayoob had a decent showing this spring my guess is that Nate Longshore will be the opening day QB at CAL.

Great discussion

I don't see USC dropping off much. They have top notch recruits ready to step in. Recruiting classes have been outstanding. Don't see any other team in the conference ready to step up yet. The gap between USC and the rest of the conf will still be there, though probably not as wide. I don't see anyway they lose more than 2 games total next year

As long as Pete Carroll is at USC I don't see them losing more than 2 games in any given year. Considering the talent pool in the LA area he has to choose from I don't think they will ever have a big dropoff. Even with the new players. The thing that will probably hold the Trojans back this season is the hard early season schedule they'll have while their trying to break in some new skill players. Otherwise I wouldn't want to be playing that team in the second half of the season.

That's just unfair.

This year's out of staters....

RB Stanley Havili 4-star 6-0/208 (Salt Lake, UT)
WR Vidal Hazelton 5-star 6-3/193 (Chatham, VA)
DT Butch Lewis 4-star 6-6/280 (Aurora, CO)
ATH Taylor Mays 5-star 6-3/218 (Seattle, WA)
RB Emmanuel Moody 4-star 6-1/195 (Coppell, TX)
LB Michael Morgan 4-star 6-2/200 (Dallas, TX)
DB Antwine Perez 4-star 6-1/199 (Camden, NJ)

To go with Jarrett (New Jersey), Booty (Louisiana), Turner (Tennessee), Rivers (Florida)....

The world is their oyster...

WC..I remember when OU tried to get Morgan from Texas. I was wondering who ended up with him. I just heard today that Texas had two 5 star recruits commit. OU hasn't picked up any yet. They did get LB Mike Reed from Marysville, Ca. But I'm not sure of his star ranking. Ranking players coming out of highschool is about the hardest job out there. Here's an example of some first round NFL players who weren't highly ranked coming out of highschool::

Alex Smith was a 2 star recruit
A.J.Hawk 3 stars
Pacman Jones 2 stars
D'Brickashaw Ferguson 3 stars

But then again you have a few can't miss prospects every season.
Reggie Bush, Vince Young and Adrian Peterson were all 5 star recruits...Duh

Just for the glory of it all...

USC boasts 11 National Championships in football and 84 national titles in major men's sports going back 88 years. Do the math, USC has 1/8th of the NCAA/CFB championships in Col FB.

Marion Morrison aka John Wayne once played at USC under legendary college football coach Howard Jones... and Matt Lienart screwed Paris Hilton. (I think he did it just to get into Lindsay Lohan's pants.)

Also in the "off the wall" department, the city of Knoxville, Tennessee's capital which hosts the Tennessee Vols, once had a local newspaper called the Knoxville Journal. Most of you know this rag now as USA Today.

I agree, what USC wants it gets.

I hear Stanley Havili isn't going to be joining the Trojans anytime soon though. Word is his HS coaches are trying to get him into a JC as he is no where close to making grades.
