your point is?

they value mathematics? can we do that?

btw, Australia , a rather diverse culture , was recently labeled numero uno .

My point is anyone can be a great teacher, or any education systems works wonders with a non third society! And please post where Australia was ranked number one in math?

excellent rebuttal. You are definitely not a few French fries short of a Happy Meal. Thankfully, the extent of your involvement is at a gambling forum

Australia is MORE mutli-cultural than , say Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong. They were ranked numero uno OVERALL. NOT just mathematics

careful, Trudeau may THROW YOU OUT....that nigga is crazy that way.......

Ahh get proven wrong by the facts resort to name-calling!! Love it! Where is the "industrious" third world diversity in Australia!?!? There is none. You are WRONG!! and I'll say it again you're WRONG!! And again show me a link where Australia is ranked number one in math or science. Or are you going to counter with more name-calling.

okay, i aplogize for being flippant, an ass.

I decided to share that story of the local HS principal as I felt in may provoke thought/interest. certainly i was intrigued.. Why would Canada be interested in what's going on in Finland? why are the Fins getting so much exposure, interest in their recent changes to its educational system. Then I copied and pasted an interview of the Finnish Minister of Education.

the point of this is that i agree with what Ontario is doing. Don't sit on your laurels. Constantly improve. See what other countries, is an aspect better than ours? can we implement it?

now, YOUR response was ;

'Of course it works in Finland, any education system will work in a homogeneous society. '

um, okay... the fins are not intellectually superior to Canadians. That have made changes to their educational system to meet the changing times (esp., tech). do you think its of VALUE for the Canadian educational system to ATTEMPT to improve itself?..... see what i'm getting at?

(as for your preoccupation with mathematics, i don't get that either. And I never said Australia is number one in math. Mathematics is only one aspect of an educational system..im repeating myself)

I do like what our provincial high schools have done over the yrs. Kids that are not academically inclined can dip into trades in grade 11/12. Also, financial education is provided- HUGE (as an elective at this point, BUT should be mandatory, TWO YEAR COURSE )-- i mean, day to day shit, something the teenager can learn and take with him/her to the real world. My son took it, actually, i forced him to. I read the whole text book-- its well done! they touched base on leasing/different types of debt/what a mortgage is/investing...etc.Canadians are largely financially illiterate (less than 50% have opened a TFSA, and nearly 80% fuel with an interest bearing product). Hopefully, the future generation(s) will have a significantly higher financial acumen-- THE COUNTRY IS A WINNER IN THE LONG RUN
