negotiate, $ 1,500 per week with upside incentives

if production is the same, make sure you're realizing a small increase

if production surges, you both benefit

Proposed something very similar to this, just with a higher weekly salary and the opportunity to reevaluate in January

Had a long meeting with them today at the office and laid out all the additional responsibilities I will be taking on with the expansion. Also provided them with my future intentions with the company. My business is in full swing on Saturday's and I wanted to provide some feedback before the holiday.

JC: Hey boss I know it's Saturday and 4th of July weekend but after getting some advice from a gambling forum I need to discuss my salary.

Boss: Yea buddy how much you need?

JC: Well since my bonus money gets taxed to shit and the fact my wife is 14 months pregnant I think I will go with the higher base salary so my money won't get hit with that special Obama bonus extra special tax.

I think you should wait till 3am tonight and give your boss a surprise call when he's in a deep sleep. Tell him you will stop calling him during the weekends and holidays if he gives you that raise

I have either been on commission or owned my own business for the majority of the last 20 years and I like it. That being said, seems like the 2k a week for you is better, but would need ALOT more info of course.

I definitely know a lot of people who live for that commission and wouldn't have it any other way

Owning your own business is the end goal for sure

You should take the salary and prefer no compensation if it doesn't hurt your standing in the company. Just say you value security and stability over potential windfalls. Better to decouple your financial future from work and use the $ for other investments/ventures.

Unless you think you are working for a real unicorn.

This is at least partially a "test" no doubt about this being a test whatsoever, to separate the wheat from the chaff, to see who is truly committed to the success of the company or who amongst them is competent enough to fool them into believing that they care about the company.

Those who rush in to grab what best benefits them risk getting branded with a Scarlet Letter, in the company's eyes.

Those who are able to rent the common sense from somewhere to utter a 6 word question: "Which would be best for the company because that comprises a large consideration for me, as well." will win the willie wonka golden ticket those who express nada along this line will get turned into a giant blueberry.

and eventually roll away.

If he'd just do what I told him to do he'd be Golden. Advancements, Promotions, Free Lunches that would not have otherwise come his way.

He probably won't do it though.

Its a Test to see who is most committed. Yes, its also an effort by the company to reduce some payroll costs, gamble on getting that done whatever.....and yeah they may "know something" that = benefit to them if employees select a specific one of the 2 options.

This is at least partially that test I describe though, even if accidentally so and not pre-planned to be on his employer's part tho likelihood they know exactly what they are doing.

Getting a better "handle" on Payrol and seizing a chance to uncover who amongst their employees is truly extraordinary and who amongst those is predictable and too dull to avail themselves of this unique opportunity to demonstrate for the company what a fantastic person they are.

He Aces this test, which he could, that company is gonna praise his name on high.
