Sorry for your loss...Just read this thread for first time...I think your cat ate something that got it sick...Most vets dont know shit half the time and unfortunately half are just interested that your CC gets approved..

You did all you could so you can sleep easy...

An animal is a 15 year commitment and a heartbreak at the end...

My only advice is that you dont listen to anyone but yourself in these matters..no mutherfucker on earth will feel this pain but you and those who love the pet too...and..If you own a place, always take your pet home and bury him in your own pet boot hill..I made the mistake of leaving my shephard in 98 to be disposed of by the vet..the sonofabitch was more interested in the $75 disposal fee than the animal I had loved for 12 years..

I buried my shephard in March in my yard this year...I currently have 3 dogs..One, my Shepherd has lost the use of his hind legs but still loves his life..He also now shits while laying in the house..I dont give a fuck..I will pick up his shit for years hopefully..When I see his tail stick out straight I know I can .."get them while they are hot"..Ya gotta laugh man cause truth is this is killing me..I will keep him around as long as he eats and is not in extreme pain..

Stay well partner!

I have had two dogs that I fought too long and hard to keep alive, forgetting that the most important aspect is quality of life! I have a dog right now that is 13+ years old(great health), but I won't let him ever suffer. The one thing that makes a dog different from a person, is they don't get depressed by bad health. They will fight to the bitter end. Good Luck

In the same wonderful boat as you!

Love him and we are still enjoying every day.
When the times comes he won't suffer........wonder why I will not get the same treatment?
I LOVE my dog!

My brother in law and I were smoking a joint by the pool a few years back, wondering how we could market diapers for dogs. You see, my brother in law had this 20 year old dog who was blind and incontinent. He took a baby diaper cut a hole in it, for the tail and put it on the dog who was constantly shitting all over the house. As we pondered the riches of our new invention, unbeknown to us and right around the corner, the blind dog had walked right off the edge and into the pool. It drowned. We found him floating upside down.

My brother in law," Hey the diaper worked good, at least you don't have shit floating all over the pool".

I replied , "Sorry for your loss, guess it was time."

He answered, "Jeez what I'm gonna do with the cases of diapers I have, I already cut holes in em. Think a vet can use em , they must have hundreds of shitting dogs."

I answered, "Enough, I think you're in shock"

True story.

You are right, the specialist center was under cash deposit and when it came time yesterday they immediately came in for the rest of it. I mean they were standing with the Sleep Needle and Bill in the same hand. My wife gave them a check which I handed her earlier and I asked them (her and my son) to leave. Right before I finally got the peace to do it and prepared myself my wife knocked on the door again and said, "they won't take the check because our address isn't on it."

This didn't make me happy at all. For one reason now I look back and I don't even know what I paid for because I was so emotional. It's not like I'm going to have my dying pet lying there and go thru a 3 page bill and ask whats this, uhh what's this. So I had to give them another 1950$ to move on.

:think2:

Don't be afraid to get a new pet. Each time we've lost one of our dogs, sure we hesitate, but then we do it, and the joy that the new fellow brings to our family is immeasurable. Every dog or cat has its own unique personality, and that is why you're not "replacing" the departed one, but rather you're complementing your cherished memories of it by beginning some with a new pet who needs your love and companionship every bit as much as the one you're mourning did.
In a sense, it's the best way to continue honouring their memories ...

Vet bills are expensive because basically your pet is receiving the same care as a human would, at least here in the States, at a fraction of the cost. And yes the money part sucks, but you have to understand its a business also. Most Vets make good money but I can guarantee you that if they were in it just for the money they would have gone to Med School, more money and much easier to get into also. The reason why they worry about money is because in many instances they don't get paid. Many times people will just leave their pets there to die. Its sad, but it happens, and then the Clinic/Hospital is stuck with all the costs, many of which are services provided by outside people who need to get paid also.

Thanks makes alot of sense Jack.. I've pretty much calmed down with the billing issues. Now I'm happy just knowing she is in a much better place.
