I had a gun pointed at my face from about 2 feet and was robbed for $108 when I was about 19 froma guy who had lost the money to me at a pool room. Never saw the guy before or after that, but 10+ years later I still remember his exact face and would give anything to see him again inside someplace. To the guys who say "wellwhy didnt you try to hit his arm or something", I say you are much braver than I as the only thing that went through my mind was, Ok, no problem. Funny thing was that I had another $400 in my other pocket and he got none of it. Bought a gun the next day from someone and carried it ever since. In fact when the Feds came to my house at 5am I had a gun in my hand when I came to the door. Thank God I did not get shot that day. When I told them they said it would have been very bad if they would have seen it in my hand walking to the door.

Do you care to explain exactly what you did and what you were charged with? If not, I understand.
Riding shotgun (door gunner) in Huey H-1 Slicks (Blue Team) near the DMZ in Viet Nam. There were all kinds of Hueys tasked with all kinds of missions in Viet Nam but Slicks were standard Iroquois helicopters. The troop and supplies carrying version.
It was called that because it had smooth sides. No guns attached outside.
It still had the GPMG M60 on a bungy cord but that was mounted inside.
The original name for all Hueys was UH-1 Iroquois but that changed way before my time to the easier to pronounce Huey.
Door gunners' weapons were mounted on swiveling mounts in order to aim and steady the weapon, usually GMPG M60 Machine guns attached to bungy cords.
Sometime Crew Chiefs manned a door gun but eventually non Flying Status enlisted men volunteered for the what could be a very hairy experience, that of door gunner on a "Slick" over a hot LZ (landing Zone) trying to rescue a downed pilot or combat patrol that needed to be extracted from an area for one reason or another.

I also got robbed at gunbpoint here in Costa Rica in my own home when two dipshits with ski masks took me by surprize (I was posting on the Rx - what else). They put me in the showe in my bathroom and stole all of our TVs, PCs my wife's jewlrey and some cash. They had a Walkie Talkie with a connection to someone outside the house probably in a car giving them orders. Strangly I never was really scared, I just said take what you want. Luckily my wife and her daughter were out for a walk with our dog (a rotweiler) and only got back a couple of minutes after the thieves left.
All kinds of cops and Costa Rica's version of the FBI showed up later but nothing ever came of it. The next morning Rx management has a new PC delivered to my house at 9AM so I was right back to work. We moved two weeks later.
Today I live in a much more secure building with lots of secruity and feel very safe.
wil.
This reminds of a time my good buddy left a party pissed drunk to go barf.
He then wandered back to the party, opened the door, lay on the couch and passed out.
BUT WAIT.... he had gone back to the WRONG HOUSE.
He actually slept there all night, the next morning there was an entire family huddled on the staircase upstairs looking downstairs wondering WHO THE FVCK was sleeping on their couch, and they called the police.
IMAGINE... waking up and finding someone sleeping on your couch.
Along the same lines as Wil I rode on numerous convoys in Kabul, Afghanistan and I'll tell you if you were tired before the convoy you were not tired during the convoy because that shit keeps you on constant alert and your head on a swivel.
