I would say that Florida overall offers much more than Georgia, having lived in both. In general Florida is a much better run state and Florida has no state income tax, while Georgia does.

If you want a diverse community, Miami is very nice. Has a bad rep from Miami Vice show days as if drug dealers with uzis roamed the streets, but I have never felt uncomfortable in Miami. Its a very nice city.

Tampa is very nice. Palm Beach-Ft. Lauderdale area very nice. Many nice small towns in North Florida on the east coast for a family to live in.

My friend wants me to move to Orlando but everytime I visit I think, "nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to stay here."

I dont really like Orlando, if your in Florida, you want to be on a coast. Its nicer and a bit cooler, plus you can go to the beach.

sorry for all the Georgia pessimism, but here is some more:

-Mostly because of all the traffic back-ups Atlanta has bad smog. Smog can and does reach very unhealthy levels on some days.

- Georgias public schools are ranked dead last in the country 50 out of 50
