Man trying to create bigfoot sighting killed in Montana

Published August 27, 2012
Associated Press

KALISPELL, Mont. – A man dressed in a military-style "ghillie" suit and apparently trying to provoke reports of a Bigfoot sighting in northwest Montana was struck by two cars and killed, authorities said.
The man was standing in the right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell on Sunday night when he was hit by the first car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A second car hit the man as he lay in the roadway, authorities said.
Flathead County officials identified the man as Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell. Trooper Jim Schneider said motives were ascertained during interviews with friends, and alcohol may have been a factor but investigators were awaiting tests.
"He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting," Schneider told the Daily Inter Lake on Monday. "You can't make it up. I haven't seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him."
Ghillie suits are a type of full-body clothing made to resemble heavy foliage and used to camouflage military snipers.
"He probably would not have been very easy to see at all," Schneider told KECI-TV.
Tenley was struck by vehicles driven by two girls, ages 15 and 17, who were unable to stop in time, authorities said.

Find Bigfoot, win $1 million

Here’s your chance, Bigfoot nerds … um, scientists. Time to get rich and prove your skeptics wrong.

The maker of former local brew Olympia Beer is offering $1 million to anyone who can “ensure the safe capture” or provide “irrefutable evidence” of the region’s hairiest elusive creature. That would be Bigfoot.

The evidence must prove the existence of a “previously undiscovered species of upright, bipedal hominid native to North America” in the previous 25 years. Evidence can include DNA samples or a live, unharmed Bigfoot.

“That’s right, you can’t use any act of violence, no guns/knives/boxing gloves/nets/etc., only sugar or sweets to lure him in,” the company says.

So no footprints, bone fragments or blurry photos. Hmmm, sounds tough. Better scroll through these photos for clues and more contest rules.

If it exists, it's in the Pacific Northwest for sure... But I don't see it. There'd need to be a bunch of them, to reproduce and survive I'd think...

I have long been a Crypto nerd so i do believe that it is very likely Bigfoot and Nessie etc are indeed real , although i am open minded on both sides of the aisle and with yet no body to prove any of these cryptids i cant bring myself to go around and argue the point that they are for sure no doubt about it real and out there.

I once dated a female Bigfoot. Had to dump her though as she was costing me a fortune in Alpo.

BTW. She preferred to be called a Sasquatch instead of a Bigfoot.

Claudia Ackley is positive that she and her two daughters came across Bigfoot in a tree in southern California last year, but when she called different state authorities to report the sighting, she got the same response.
Nope, they told her, you saw a bear. As a result, the 46-year-old has filed a lawsuit against the state for failing to recognize Sasquatch as a distinct species, reports the Press-Enterprise.

In this case, you can judge for yourself: An ABC 30 report on Ackley's sighting includes phone video shot by her daughter near Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino mountains.

(It was shot around dusk and is pretty dark.) Ackley filed her suit with documentary filmmaker Todd Standing, who made the Netflix film "Discovering Bigfoot" and who believes the sighting is legit.
State officials won't comment on pending litigation. "He looked like a Neanderthal man with hair all over him," said Ackley, who says this is the second sure sighting of Bigfoot she has made.
"He had solid black eyes. He had no expression on his face at all. He did not show his teeth. He just stared at the three of us." The three then safely walked away, she says.
Among other things, the lawsuit says the state is endangering the public by not recognizing Bigfoot and calls on it to "'manage this wildlife species" and protect its habitat.
You can read the lawsuit in full at Gizmodo, which says it makes "some valid and interesting points." In the meantime, Ackley is leaving fruit and snacks out, along with a voice-activated book that includes recordings of words like "fur" and "candy," and samples of each, in an attempt to communicate.
