2-2 in the MLB yesterday for a very small profit of 1.11 units

I went 2-2 in the MLB yesterday for a very small profit of 1.11 units. I have to say that personally this card appears tougher to me and I like some favorites but either way here are today's plays:

Seattle/Minnesota Under 9 1/2 -1.06 (3 Unit Play) - This total appears high to me and I like it Under here. The Mariners have called up Ryan Feierabend from Triple A Tacoma and you have to wonder why he wasn't called up sooner as he posted a 7-1 record there with a 2.04 ERA and he was up in the majors last year although he struggled a bit. Feierabend has never faced the Twins before but I think with his major league history he should not be intimidated in this spot. The Twins will have Glen Perkins on the mound who is off of eight shutout innings against the Yankees and at home this year he has a 3.72 ERA in 67 2/3 innings with a 1.39 WHIP. He should have a little chip on his shoulder as the Mariners rocked him earlier this year. The home plate umpire for today's contest is Jeff Kellogg and although he is 14-12 to the Over so far this year these teams seem to go Under with him as the Mariners are 6-4 Under the past 10 while Minnesota is 7-3 Under their past 10. I like this one to be low scoring today.

Toronto +1.97 (3 Unit Play) - In baseball wagering you can't be afraid to take the underdogs if you want to win over the long haul and there are a lot of reason to take Toronto in this game today. The Blue Jays will have Shaun Marcum on the mound and after struggling after coming off the DL he has turned it around in winning his last two starts and allowing only three earned runs in those outings while pitching 13 innings. Marcum is also 3-0 in his career against Boston with a 2.77 ERA in four outings that have all been won by the Blue Jays. With the rainout on Friday and Roy Halladay pitching a complete game yesterday the Blue Jay bullpen is rested as well. The Red Sox have no slouch on the mound either today in Josh Beckett who is also pitching well recently but still at Fenway Park this year he has a 5.03 ERA and in his career he is only 3-6 when pitching against Toronto. The Blue Jays still have their sights set on a wild card run and although it is unlikely I think there is a lot of value in taking them in this game today.

San Francisco -1.15 (2.5 Unit Play) & San Francisco -1 1/2 Runs +1.45 (1.5 Unit Play) - I think people are shying away today from playing the Giants because Tim Lincecum was struck in the leg with a line drive in his last start but it is hard to believe that the Giants would take a chance with Lincecum unless they were fully sure that he was okay as he is a valuable player to their future. Lincecum has been outstanding all year recording a 2.05 ERA on the road and if it were not for the anemic offense of the Giants he would be front and center for the Cy Young award this year. He has struck out an incredible 182 batters while walking only 60 and he is 3-0 in his career against Atlanta with a 3.32 ERA. The Braves meanwhile will hand the ball to Charlie Morton who will again try to get a win at home but so far this year he is 0-5 with a 9.00 ERA in six starts. Morton has never met the Giants in his short career. The home plate umpire is Damien Beal and he has not umpired many games but so far this year he is 2-1 for the road team. I will take my shot with the Giants here today.

The above are my Sunday Selections and I will be back on Monday with more winning selections. Best of luck to everyone today and enjoy the games.

3-1 yesterday in the MLB for a profit of 7.405 units

I went 3-1 yesterday in the MLB for a profit of 7.405 units but I also went 0-2 in the NFL to continue my horrific week there for a loss of 5.575 units. The card is somewhat short today so I am combining my selections together:

NFL
Cleveland/NY Giants Under 35 +1.08 (3 Unit Play) - These two teams meet in October which is one of my favorite trends to bet because neither team will want to tip off the other team and use trick plays that they might use in the regular season. These two teams also have a lot of injuries to their wide receivers and points should be at a premium here tonight. Play the under and I predict a score of 17-13 Cleveland.

Tampa Bay -1.05 (3 Unit Play) -

Detroit/Texas Under 11 1/2 -1.06 (3 Unit Play) -

Baltimore +1.12 (3 Unit Play)

Those are my Monday Selections and I will return tomorrow with more winning selections. Best of luck to everyone today and enjoy the games.

1-2 yesterday in the MLB for a loss of 3.18 units

I went 1-2 yesterday in the MLB for a loss of 3.18 units. Tonight's card is kind of ugly but these are the plays that I made for today:

Oakland/Minnesota Over 8 1/2 +1.04 (3 Unit Play) - The A's took Game 1 of this series and will now hand the ball to Sean Gallagher as he is making his seventh start of the year for the A's since coming over from the Cubs. Gallagher has struggled on the road posting a 6.75 ERA in 8 innings of work with a 2.38 WHIP. Of course the sample size is small but he is having some shoulder issues and the Twins had really been hitting the ball until last night. The Twins will counter with Kevin Slowey who on the year has a 3.94 ERA and he has pitched well lately but has lasted only six innings in the two previous starts. The home plate umpire for today's game is Jerry Layne who is 13-10 to the Under this year but for some reason these teams score runs with Layne as Oakland is 8-1-1 to the Over in the past ten games with Layne while the Twins are 6-3-1 to the Over in the same period.

Detroit/Texas Over 11 -1.03 (3 Unit Play) - I lost on this matchup last night by taking it Under but the numbers for tonight's game support a play on the Over. The Tigers will give the ball to Armando Galarraga and he has just been unbelievable all season for the Tigers staff as he usually pitches deep into games but this will be his first career appearance against the team that dropped him and he may be a little to pumped up for this start. The Rangers will give the ball to Vicente Padilla who was scratched from his last start on Sunday with a neck issue and overall on the year has a 4.85 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. The Rangers will be without the service of Ian Kinsler for possibly the rest of the year and I admit that the Rangers bats have been quiet lately but the umpire stats were too much to overlook here. HP umpire Randy Marsh is 7-5 to the Under this year but check out his stats with these two teams-Detroit is 10-0 to the Over the past 10 games and Texas is 8-1-1 to the Over in the same time period with Marsh and Padilla is 2-1 to the Over with Marsh behind the dish. Over is the play for me here.

Colorado/LA Dodgers Over 7 1/2 -1.02 (3 Unit Play) - A key series out west as the Rockies visit the Dodgers. Ubaldo Jimenez gets the start for the Rockies and he has been pitching better on the road recently but still sports a 4.72 ERA on the road and when taking on the Dodgers he is 3-0 with a 5.34 ERA in six appearances. Jimenez has started five games against LA and all five have went Over the total. The Dodgers will hand the ball to Hiroki Kuroda who has also pitched well recently but was going through a rough patch before that and in his career against Colorado he is 0-1 in two starts with a 7.50 ERA. Two teams that have had their offenses going lately should be enough to get this game Over the total.

Those are my Tuesday Selections and I will be back on Wednesday with more winning selections. Best of luck to everyone and enjoy the games everyone.

3-0 for a profit of 9.12 units

I had a very nice day yesterday going 3-0 for a profit of 9.12 units. Here are my selections for today:

Atlanta +1.23 (3 Unit Play) - This line has dropped and to be honest I missed it earlier but I still think at this price it is a good line to bet the Braves here today. Atlanta has basically quit on the season but they fought back last night only to blow it late and tonight they will hand the ball to Jair Jurrjens who on the year has a 3.04 ERA on the road this year in 77 innings of work with a 1.22 WHIP and has won both of his starts against them this year going 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA. The Mets will counter with Mike Pelfrey who is also very good at home this year as he has a 2.81 ERA in 83 1/3 innings of work with a 1.22 WHIP but he has struggled against the Braves going 0-2 against them this year and getting blown out in both starts. The home plate umpire for today's game is Angel Campos who so far this year has seen the road team win 13 out of 20 games and with Pelfrey possibly being limited to how long he will be pitching I recommend a play on the Braves here today.

Pittsburgh/St. Louis Over 9 +1.10 (4 Unit Play) - These teams played a low scoring affair last night but St. Louis has had a lot of success scoring runs when taking on the Pirates this year. They have scored 73 runs against the Pirates this year in 13 games and the Over has cashed in 8 times with a push and that includes last night's game. The Pirates will hand the ball to Jason Davis who has made two starts after taking over a spot in the rotation and although he has pitched well I am not sold on him. The Cardinals will hand the ball to Todd Wellemeyer who has also been pitching pretty well lately but his ERA at home this year is 4.66 and although the Pirate offense has been having trouble scoring runs this might be the type of pitcher that they can reach. The home plate umpire for tonight's game is Chad Fairchild and so far this year he is 17-10 to the Over and has done fairly well with each team for the Over as well as the Pirates are 4-3 to the Over and the Cardinals are 5-1-1 to the Over. I think the Cardinals might score 7-8 runs tonight so we should only need a couple by the Pirates to cash this one.

Colorado/LA Dodgers Under 7 1/2 -1.02 (3 Unit Play) - I had the winner last night taking this contest Over but I will come right back with an Under play this evening. The Rockies will hand the ball to Jeff Francis who is still trying to find his form since coming off the DL but he has pitched well against the Dodgers not only in his career but this year as well. Francis is 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA in three starts thus far this year and in his career he is 5-2 with a 2.69 ERA against them. The Dodgers are countering with Chad Billingsley who has a 3.28 ERA at home this year so far but he is 0-2 in his career against the Rockies with a 4.58 ERA. The home plate umpire tonight is Brian O'Nora who is 14-11 so far this year to the Under and although he has not been behind home plate with Francis he has been behind the dish for two starts by Billingsley in which Chad won both starts with one Under coming in with a push. I think this game will be low scoring tonight and I like this one Under the total.

Those are my Wednesday Selections and I will be back tomorrow with more winning selections. Best of luck to everyone today and enjoy the games.

2-1 in the MLB yesterday for a profit of 4.40 units

I went 2-1 in the MLB yesterday for a profit of 4.40 units. I had some personal items to attend to today with my daughter's orientation at school so no writeups will be provided for today. Here are my selections:

NFL
San Francisco +3 1/2 -1.07 (2.5 Unit Play)

MLB
Washington/Philadelphia Over 9 +1.03 (3 Unit Play)

Atlanta/NY Mets Under 9 -1.09 (3 Unit Play)

San Diego/Arizona Under 8 +1.07 (3 Unit Play)

Those are my Thursday Selections and I will be back on Friday with more winning selections. Best of luck to everyone and enjoy the games today.

1-0 day for a profit of 2.5 units

I won my preseason play yesterday as San Francisco was able to win outright at Chicago so a 1-0 day for a profit of 2.5 units. I am working late out here on the West Coast handicapping these games and feel that these may move so I am releasing these early. My plays for Friday are:

Philadelphia/New England Under 37 1/2 -1.13 (3.5 Unit Play) - Brady may or may not play but either way I look for the Patriots defense to come out with a chip on their shoulder here as they have not played very well so far this preseason. The Patriots backup QB's are horrible so not sure how much they will be able to score against a stiff Eagles defense. The Eagles will be playing without their top two WR's in this game which should help keep the scoring down as well. I think we will see more FG's than TD's in this one and as long as special teams don't break this one open I think this is a very safe bet Under.

Tennessee +3 -1.11 (2 Unit Play) - Atlanta will be starting Matt Ryan for the first time in his career and he is likely to play the entire first half as well as a series in the third quarter. Atlanta's offense has not really been clicking in the preseason so I am not sure what type of scoring we will see from them here tonight. The Titans meanwhile have had offensive woes of their own but they have really been playing a vanilla offense here in preseason and coach Fisher just does what he normally does and that is win. Vince Young and the starters will likely play the first half as well and I look for improvement from them here tonight.

Houston +5 Even (2.5 Unit Play) - If you wait on this game it may go higher as this is the TV game this evening and I expect everyone to jump on Dallas in this one but as I am releasing all my NFL plays now I will use Houston +5. The line has already climbed this week and I just like Houston this year to make a run at the playoffs. What better way to give themselves confidence heading into the regular season than to beat their in state rivals who everyone is penning in for the Super Bowl this year. Dallas has not looked good in the preseason and I will take my shot with the team that I like more.

The Houston and Tennessee plays fall into a nice system that I found in the Playbook Newsletter and that is to play on an undefeated Week 3 road team that is taking on an opponent who lost their last game by 4 or more points. The system has gone 20-4-2 ATS since 1983.

The above are my Friday NFL Selections and I will have the baseball selections out later on today. Best of luck to everyone and enjoy the games.
