WTF?
They just took Orlando's best shot last night and all they could do is eek out a 4 point win.
How does any team go damn near 65% (75% in the 1H) shooting for the night and still have the game in doubt in the final seconds?
In the end it took Kobe having an off night. Everyone is due for a bad game and we all know how Kobe answers a bad night.
okay, first off it was orlando who took LA's best shot, and they won the game. just like they did during the regular season as they swept them. the magic are truly the better team and it showed last night. anyone who has been watching these first three games know that this was far and away the LAKERS's best performance yet..the only difference is that finally orlando came to play too..and the better team won.
to say that kobe had an off night is just absolutely absurd..some of the things he did in the first half were just superhuman. he was less of a factor in the second half because he had exhausted himself trying to will his team to victory against a better opponent...one 30 year old guy can only do so much for so long. The magic defense wore out lebron when he tried to do it all too, and he is a much younger and stronger player.. LA and kobe played their best and it simply wasn't good enough.
finally, the magic are just a great shooting team, and after the long pre-finals break and the jitters at staples, they are back in their groove, and last night's performance was not that abnormal for them. Expect the onslaught to continue. The next time we get to see jack nicholson jumping around courtside it will be because his beloved lakers are facing elimination. magic in 6, possibly 7.
and by the way...you do realize that USC never even "2-peeted", right? there is a little crystal football that's been in baton rouge since 2004 that pretty much clears up that issue..just because half of the sportswriters in the country live in LA and are USC homers does not a champion make...and we all know what vince young did to your guys in '06.
if you would like to see a team actually win the BCS two years in a row, and 3 of 4, just keep an eye on the mighty gators this fall!
