yea i believe the players should take in their own hands, then maybe people will think twice about running onto the field
Tell it to Monica Seles who was stabbed by a knife-wielding nut job stalker (and was really never the same player after that) and the KC Royals 1st base coach who was assaulted by a drunken father and son duo.I was just trying to rationalize the jump from simple trespassing (with probably no ill intent), to assault with a dangerous weapon.
My mistake, I didn't know we were discussing his right of self defense. In that case, yes, I agree, he shouldn't just stand there and allow himself to get stabbed.Tell it to Monica Seles who was stabbed by a knife-wielding nut job stalker (and was really never the same player after that) and the KC Royals 1st base coach who was assaulted by a drunken father and son duo.
The point is, if you're Adam Jones, you don't know what the fans intent is when they come onto the field.
While I'm not advocating vigilante justice, I certainly think the players have a right to defend themselves if threatened.
