Orioles outfielder Adam Jones: Players should be able to kick fans that run on field

It is hard to imagine the mentality of someone stupid enough to run out on the field do I am sympathetic to Jones' feeling about this...... but players getting involved would just make it even more of mess.

at first i agree but then i thought..what happens when some roided up philly fan charges a little guy like Ben Revere? roid dude is free to pummel him since Revere is free to attack the fan right?. Revere would be dead before Ryan Howard made it to cf on his crutches and we all know Utley would be squealing and flapping his arms like a scared bird.

I was just trying to rationalize the jump from simple trespassing (with probably no ill intent), to assault with a dangerous weapon.

Tell it to Monica Seles who was stabbed by a knife-wielding nut job stalker (and was really never the same player after that) and the KC Royals 1st base coach who was assaulted by a drunken father and son duo.

The point is, if you're Adam Jones, you don't know what the fans intent is when they come onto the field.

While I'm not advocating vigilante justice, I certainly think the players have a right to defend themselves if threatened.

My mistake, I didn't know we were discussing his right of self defense. In that case, yes, I agree, he shouldn't just stand there and allow himself to get stabbed.

Yes, it should be considered a potential thread and all players should be able to whoop the shit out of the dbag. That would stop it soon.
