SIA's balance looks correct to me. I don't see the winners generating over $400 in profit. SIA deducts the bet, then later adds in the winners. The format is confusing. Then they lose a cent here and there. Add it up a couple of times, and it should be right.

I agree, Doug. Balance looks exactly like it should.

Thanks for the replies. I consider myself a fairly bright guy, but I don't see how this is even close to correct.

Let's look at the first two wagers:

Bonus $40.00 $440.00

Bet $5.00 $435.00
Chicago +10.0 Void

Bet $3.00 $432.00
Buffalo +6.0 Lose

First bet of $5 was push (void) and I went from $440 to $435. Huh??????????

Second bet of $3 I lost, went from $435 to $432. Okay, makes sense.

Let's look at another series of bets:

Bet $3.00 $426.00
Miami +7.0 Lose

Bet $50.00 $376.00
San Diego +3.0 Win

Bet $30.00 $346.00
Chicago +10.0 Void

Miami lose go from 429 to 426- okay.
San Diego win, go from 426 to 376, huh???????????????????? Minus $50?????
Chicago push, go frmo 376 to 346, huh??????????? Minus $30

I lost $80 from my account after winning a $50 and pushing a $30 bet! How can that be correct?

Can other please chime in. Two people said this looks right and I feel like I'm in the Twillight Zone

Just do it like you were balancing your checkbook. Any time you make a bet, subtract the money. When the bet is settled, you're either going to get zero back(loss), your stake back(push or voided bet), or your stake plus what it won(win). The transactions that start with "Bet" are the recordings that should be subtracted, even if the bet eventually won. I can assure you that it is correct.

Illini,
I see what you're saying. I guess I'm used to Pinny and Oly. I'll take another look at it and do the calculations.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain that to me. I just got so worked up when I saw my statement, maybe I jumped the gun there.

So I guess I've been only betting half of what I thought I've been betting.

Thanks again.

No problem, glad I could be of help. It can be confusing if you're used to different software.

Go: No you're not betting half ! I think you're used to betting 55 to win 50, SIA says 55= 105 pay-off. It's screwy until you get used to it. Where did you win $400 +, just look at the bigger bets, throw out the bets under $10, won't matter much, then where did you make the amount you claim ? You'll see it, in time !

They take the money out of your account when you place the Bet... then down Bellow.... they add it back later.... if it wins...

It is a little different..... Although i find it quite clear myslef....

Go: This may help... a $55 bet doesn't win $105, it wins $50. SIA has it right, there isn't a conspiracy against you here.

Thanks all! Man, that's why I love the forum!

My original plan was to make a few $5 bets to get used to how it all worked, but then I saw some lines that I REALLY liked, so played them my normal amount. Then got all crazy when I read the statements wrong.

Feeling a little dumb at this point.

Hey, thanks again!

Go Atlanta! Did you catch that +115 at SIA?

Go: Don't sweat the petty stuff, and don't pet the sweaty stuff ! I knew you'd see the logic eventually. It's kind of humbling to admit you made the error. 99% + of the time the bettor makes the error, even a no-pay book usually grades it right, then collection is the problem.

Chalk it up to a learning experience, and move on. Few responded because it was obvious SIA was correct.

Best luck,

Doug

The account statement at SIA has to be the worst thing I've ever seen. It is extemely confusing and difficult to read, mainly because the bet and outcome are made as two separate entries and not well identified.

I rarely look at mine since I keep my own records and if my balance is within a few cents of my figures it's OK.

Woody: Yes, the few cents thing is weird. I don't see a need to grade to the millionth of a cent., as some software does. A cent is a small enough number, it can be rounded there. It creates this appearing and disappearing cent. Whatever currency is used, can be rounded to a level, that doesn't really matter.

A cent is nothing... so is 1/100,000th of a cent, Euro, peso, franc, etc.

Sia

SIA ?

I keep it as an extra out. It's the last book I check.

If SIA has the BEST line, my bet goes there.

If any other book has an equal line, my bet goes to that other book. I want to avoid getting booted by SIA for winning too much -- and a relatively inactive account is less likely to be booted (just a guess on my part).

SIA may not have the worst customer service in the world, English Sports Betting may have that distinction.
