Everyone has cheep taste on some things.

For me its olive garden.

For some reason I love that place even more then some of the expensive italian places where I live.

There is just something about it that I like.
I know its cheep, I know its low quality but for some reason I love it.

I have been to some high end places in New York and for some reason I like OG better.

Im sure everyone likes something in life more then they should.

Like I'm sure some of you think Red Lobster is great.

To me Red Lobsters is the worst place on Earth to eat.

But I guess others feel the same way about OG so how can I get mad at someone who loves RL?

I see where you are coming from for sure.

My cheap taste is Taco Bell. I know its cheap, i know it's low quality, but I prefer it over any nice mexican restaurant you can show me. Have eaten at several 4-5 star mexican restaurants and i'll take a taco bell chicken quesadilla and hot sauce over anything on their menu.

If I was still in college, this would be my "meal plan".

otherwise, if you could go 3x per week or 21 times during the promo, that would make each trip about $5, which is probably about what they should be charging for their box noodles and ragu.

Truth.

Olive Garden is so overrated it's not even funny.

Same goes for Red Lobster.

I'm surprised to hear their business has taken a plunge over the past several years though as people line up at the ones here.

Jake-
Can you start a thread chronicling how many times you go there over the next 7 weeks?

Let us know how you feel after eating that stuff. I'm thinking I may be like that McGarbage documentary.

Breadstick Block on Top of Pasta Pass Problems: Olive Garden's Very Bad Week

Breadstick Block on Top of Pasta Pass Problems: Olive Garden's Very Bad Week

Olive Garden can't catch a break.

Earlier this week, the struggling Italian-themed chain tried to get some buzz by offering the Pasta Pass — a $100 card that that buys you all the pasta, salad, bread and soft drinks you can ingest over the next seven weeks. The 1,000 passes sold out within minutes, but not without it backfiring on them. Hundreds of angry customers took to Twitter and the company's Facebook page to complain that the site took their credit card information without processing their order. Many just wanted to sell them on eBay, but they're stuck with their fate.

If that wasn't rough enough of a week, now its board released a 300-page report on everything wrong with the place, including saying it's time to control the free breadsticks.

In a nearly 300-page treatise on what's wrong with Olive Garden and its management, investor Starboard Value suggests the Italian restaurant chain is being reckless with its unlimited breadsticks. The hedge fund notes the chain's official policy is to bring out one breadstick per customer at a time, plus an extra for the table.

But Starboard says servers bring out more than that, leading to waste — and cold breadsticks. Starboard notes that it isn't pushing for an end to unlimited breadsticks, just more control in how they're doled out.

If you're thinking, "Maybe a struggling company should tighten its belt a bit," that's already been worked out:

Gentlemen, free breadsticks aren’t about profits! Free breadsticks are about making the diner feel safe from his wife’s feelings! Free breadsticks say, “No matter your race, creed, or gender, you don’t have to talk—here’s more food to put in your mouth!” With a constant flow of breadsticks, our diners can stay here as long as they like and never have to speak to anyone at their table. Isn’t that worth fighting for? Isn’t that worth your precious profit margin?

Man Eats 95 Meals at Olive Garden in 7 Weeks With 'Pasta Pass'

Mama Mia! That's a lot of pasta.

A North Carolina man is trying to determine his Italian food breaking point by eating Olive Garden twice a day for more than six weeks.

And he has a few more days to go.

Alan Martin told TV Station WGHP he is one of 1,000 people who purchased a"Never Ending Pasta Pass" from Olive Garden and is on a mission to eat more food at the chain restaurant than anyone else.

"I would love to be the person that ate the most of the 1,000 people. That would be a good contest to win," Martin told the station, "because that means I got the most value out of the card of anyone in the United States."

I would love to be the person that ate the most of the 1,000 people.

He paid $100 for the pass, which lasts between Sept. 22 to Nov. 9 and includes unlimited pasta entrees and Coca-Cola beverages.

And if he brings guests, the pass covers their Coca-Cola drinks as well.

He told the station he has consumed 95 meals that without the pass would have cost him $1,510.
Possibly even more amazing is the fact he says he has not gained any weight during this feat.

The pass, which was sold to 1,000 people, expires Sunday at which time Martin said he'll try a "big burger or pizza, I don't know."

Sounds like a man who is not ready to give up pasta just yet.

This defies logic.
The guy has to be putting down at least 4500K calories a day and thats not counting any food he eats outside of olive garden and he says he has not gained any weight.

I have a hard time believing that.

the bartender at my local OG said they had 8 different people come in with the pass, and they come in 2/3 times a week. i asked how in world can they eat there every other day, and he said they let them get the food to go and nearly all is taken out.

My first experience with The Olive Garden was horrendous, and we didn't return to one for several years until we ate at their franchise leader in Orlando maybe 10 years ago. It was right next to our hotel and we were both tired and hungry

that meal was pretty good (either that or we were starved and had low expectations)

anyhow how, I've gone to them a few times since and the food was good, but I'd always go to a highly rated family owned Italian restaurant first if one were available to us
