Oldmans Pick For Wild Card Weekend

Just wanted to briefly mention that yesterday I was pretty active on the board for halftime plays with some success. As you well know, in the NFL, halftimes only last about 15 minutes, so for those that may be interested check back as I either start a new thread or add to a thread already started during halftime. Not sure if that will be the case today or not, but I'm always looking for value.

For those that may have an interest in teasers, I offer the following for your consideration involving today's games. Did this once before during the regular season with success, but didn't and won't include either teaser winners or losers in my official record.

I've gotta ask why would you not go ahead and make it a 7 point teaser to get Indy to -2.5? I promise it's worth the juice and then some.

I determine the type of teaser based on how I feel the result of the game may fall. While it is true, the vig is not much more for the 7 points then the 6.5 points and would provide a better opportunity to win the play, and certainly would encourage anyone willing to pay the extra vig to do so, my belief in this particular game is that the Colts will cover the 3 easily and no need to buy down further. At worst, if they only win by 3 and the Packers win, then I have a no play. The extra vig paid gains me nothing with the Packers. So it's a risk versus reward decision based on this particular game only. Another game, I might very well bring the number below 3. Let's see how this one plays out.

For those interested in the weather for today's game, from www.weather.com, game time temperature throughout appears to be 29 degrees, but feels like 21 degrees, with SSW winds around 8 mph and dry. Still appears like good football weather and certainly not nearly as cold as Lambeau can get. Don't believe weather will be a factor in today's game.

Best of luck to you today! Here is Chicago right now it is about 10 degrees with winds up to 15-20 mph. I can't imagine it being better than this 3.5 hours to the north in Green Bay though all forecasts I see says something different even for here in Chicago. I will keep you updated. Best of luck.

Are you sure you didn't just get the total at over 49 without the free half point? I am pretty sure Skybook doesn't give free halfs on totals, I just tried it myself and the total stayed the same when I got to the confirm page.

Actually I got the 49 at Pinnacle as they were posting a line of 50 (+101), but using the drop down menu offered 49 (-109). The free half point that I was referring to wasn't at Skybook but rather Millenium as they offer free half points every Friday from midnight to midnight on sides and totals. This is why I often post many times a little before or after midnight on Thursdays, so members and viewers of the forum can take advantage of the free half point if they so choose.

I have no clue what happened, but by the tone in your words sounds like we came up short on this one. No problem. I followed your lead for just $10 for fun and maybe dinner money. I did notice that two horses were scratched and our horse was 5/2 when I bet it and the other was 1/1, so with the scratches, we weren't going to get the morning line odds of 10-1 anyway. Don't be shy. If you like something else in the future, just let me know. I won't play heavy unless you tell me too. No pressure. Come forward when you're comfortable. We're here all the time, so let's enjoy the sharing. That's more important to me then the small change.

When the # comes up such as it did today, so far off what one would expect from history and strengths of the 2 tms you have to be "aware". A total of 49 was 6 away from what I had. 2 65`s and VERY bad D on both sides made this look too good to be true. You can`t just say I don`t pay any attn. to why a number is the way it is. At this time of the yr there are few "weak" ones or "mistakes" only those that are put up for a purpose.
