i like ted....but,why announce a departure?......and if you are truly departing, why announce it in such an obtuse manner?.......

ted, this looks a bit juvenile.....like a cry for attention....i`ve grown to like you and appreciate your level headedness...

not how i had you pegged at all.......

best of luck....i wish you the best...whatever you do...

I agree with #1cheater and sfincter. Olddude has too much drama. See his first post begging for attention. So long and I'll see you at Al's Heimer's bar, we can have a drink and reminisce.. if we can.

Oldman I don't know why your going. This thread doesn't explain why. The other thing I have to say is that I asked a question last week and everyone told me to listen to Oldman Ted when he responded to me because they "said was knowledgable" Well if Ted was only here for a month why the hell was he so smart? Because he said he was old and in the game for years. Sorry I'm not buying it. Ted if you want to go See you later. He might have been a good capper but if he is going to come in here for a month and try to get sympathy then.... who cares? I don't. I know after this post I'm going to hear this and that but I don't care eitehr. Oldman Ted could be 20 years old for all I know and the same for all of you. I'll come back tomorro and be Oldman Rickas...FADE ME.!!!

let me be clear..my remarks weren`t intended in the manner that falco interpreted them.....ted`s an excellent handicapper from what i`ve seen....and as i said,i`ve grown to appreciate his "forum presence"......no locks...no b.s......just solid picks and info.....well done...well presented...

but,this thread is baffling....it`s vague....incomprehensible....and,frankly, embarrassing....

not bashing ted....but,what is this?.....why is this?

Oldman--Did you join the RX to share knowledge like you once said, or to win some money in a measly contest. If it's money you need just let us know, I've got some extra money laying around.
If you have the knowledge and can handicap then money from a contest here shouldn't mean shit. I post my picks every day for the hell of it and try to help offer my perspective in return I want others to offer info. But you, I wonder....................................

Oldman Ted,
I hardly ever post on the forum, but i come here at least 3/4 times a day and yer one of the top 3 guys i listen too. Everyone has their reasons on what they do, but i really hope u still post cuz u have a knack at cappin and u have some good info. Everyone in here is always lookin for a winner, and u help out a lot of us in this forum, helping us win good $$$$$$. I hope u can reconsider and still post, but if not, i guess there is reasons and thank you for all the winners u gave me. Your truly a class act and i know im not the only one who appreciates your posts.

It would be great if you stayed, I did listen to your advice...and think you have good knowledge (as well as several others here). Although I do see that you seem to strive for attention. It's obvious because otherwise you would just stop posting without begging for more replies. Many people in here work very hard every day (Dawgman, Co-Cap, Identity, Kojak, Hanson Bros. etc.) to help ourselves as well as each other. Just like me, we all want to beat the book. If you leave...for what reason I don't know, then just....

"don't go away mad...just go away," some 80's hair band.

PS..take Denver +3 tomarrow! I never suggest betting various units on games, but take this for 5 units!

Ted-

I don't understand this contest thing. The only reason I ever read that thread was because you told me youe pick was there before your write-up was ready. Other than that, I have no knowlegeable comment on that thread.

Like I said in my first post, I finally registered on this forum only so I could say thank-you for for well-thought-out write-ups on each game. Even if you never read this, I have already been repaid by your Ohio St/Clemson/ Ole Miss picks the other today. (my line pushed on Ole Miss- my strong play of the day- , but still I was well on the + side overall)

But I have to be honest with you Ted......this whole thing is starting to sound child-ish to me.

No offense....especially with age consideration.

I've never perceived this forum as being about "contests and prizes", or "popularity contests". But if it is, can somebody please direct me to: www.wherethe****doitalkaboutgambling.com

What about staying here and just posting with us "regular guys", without playing the bowling for bullshit games?

Thanks again and good luck in the future Ted!

-Big Iron

P.S. I've done well on my own in the NFL lately, but was hoping for one more coat-tail ride in college from you. My NFL play for tomorrow is GB, but the spread worries me a little. I was considering making a hedge play w/ a 2 team tease: GB & OU to win each. Or, GB - a little and LSU + a bunch also sounds good to me. Have to see where my book has the nmbers tomorrow...

If you really don't want to post, any insights on the last bowl game of the year can be emailed to me (and would be appreciated) at: rick@bigron.com

Hope you re-consider though.

Oldman Ted:

Please stay, I have not been here to long and I see that you where a great guy to have here in Rx, From what I saw yesterday I see that there may be a problem with a Capper Contest I no really nothing about so I can't judge. Your picks where a great measuring stick on my decision process and I am thankful for your insight on all these games.

For someone who doesn't want attention sure could have fooled me. Post, don't post, stay, leave...why all the drama?

A couple of weeks ago you were crying about not getting any attention and everyone had to vote for you to stay. Now you can't get a prize for a contest and your leaving

Appears to be all about the attention.

Ted, I think we all wish you the best and respect any decision.

As for the challenge, it is/was just that. It was here for a couple years with TRK and when he left, we were asked by the posters to replace TRK. We did so with The Rx Scorekeeper. The only reason for the service is because posters asked for it. We offered some cappers to be tracked.

Back in the days of the wild wild west Rx we had lots of posters padding the records which started alot of chaos, so along came TRK to verify all records.

Now we have the scorekeeper. He is here to track players in what we call a challenge, not a contest. There was no prize offered and as we continue to track players in this manner, I do not see prizes with the scorekeepers challenges in the future.

Those of you who have been here awhile understand this pretty easy I think.

All the best

Ted I understand why you are pissed but you were simply misguided. While it is true the contest was called "bowling for dollars" there never were prizes attached to it. I still don't understand why a "sponsor" was needed. All things considered the way this contest was represented to us could have been better. Hey, Tony Richkas had me crappin' down both legs there for awhile. So bury the hatchet and stick around, what the hell at least you didn't have to anti up to get in.

Guys:

My departure has nothing to do with the contest. In fact, if you go back to the original thread dated December 16, 2003, you will see that I informed the RX Scorekeeper that I just wanted to be monitored and that I would donate any money to charity. As the conclusion of the contest drew close it was my intention to donate any winnings to Singuru's charity to save the schools so I was disappointed to not be able to give this gift to him.

Futhermore, my departure has nothing to do with a change in gambling or money. I have stated many times that this is a business and not gambling and have shared with you my experience from being in this business for 30 years. I have been fortunate to be able to retire early as a result of a successful career, financial investments and success in this business. I came to the RX to share that experience and try and show anyone who may be interested, how to succeed in this business. My reward was sharing and receiving feedback from posters who may have benefitted from that experience. I wish for nothing more.

The reason for this thread was simply to say goodbye. I was raised in a generation that learned courtesy and I did not feel that I should just disappear and stop posting without saying goodbye to each of you whether you be a supporter or otherwise. Throughout my lifetime, whenever I moved on in my career or changed location, I would make it a point to say goodbye personally to all those who were in my life during that period and I was simply doing the same here. I am not seeking out attention, just doing what I believe is giving proper courtesy.

It is simply time for me to say goodbye and nothing more. As always, I wish you all the very best and success in the future.

Take good care and be well.......OldmanTed

This is getting really weird. Oldman Ted have a great life. I understand that you feel like you got slapped around. I will miss your posts. But I have to agree with MFG on the issue.

Good Luck!
