I see Oklahoma winning this game and covering the 6 pts. They got their wake up call in the lost against K St. and that was a good thing in order to refocus for this game against LSU. I think the Oklahoma Off. has to much speed at WR. and will create problems for LSU DB's.

Oklahoma -6 is a huge gift. They will win this gme by double digits without a doubt. LSU has a good defense yes, but they can't stop the balance OU has. Plus, they haven't played a defense as good as OU either. Yeah OU lost to K-State, every team has a bad game. Atleast they didn't lost to a poor Florida team.

You listening to your Tulane buddy again? As I remember, you were touting La. Tech to cover aginst the Tigers....so listen up.

Oklahoma does NOT have balanced offense! They throw the HELL out of the ball because the rush offense is average at best.....and they are the ones that better be worried about scoring. They averaged 3.4 yards per carry this year and have an imobile QB with TWO reconstructed knees.

Actually, I am very reluctant to provide ANY analysis on this game, because I LOVE the idea of the public betting the line up....so go ahead and POUND Oklahoma to death!

Aloha LSUpete, my info got Oklahoma attempting 34 run plays per game avg 150+, and 38 pass plays per game avg 300+ yards. As far as balance goes, it seems that they over the season have been balanced in their Off. play calling. Though they have passed more frequently than running, White has been able to hit for 43 TD's with only 9 int's. One thing in which I can agree with you is the mobility between the two QB's as White has been sacked 23 times compared to Mauck being sack only 17. What it seemingly will come down to is if LSU # 42 ranked Def against the pass, can hold the Oklahoma #6 ranked passing Off. to under 170 yards passing. Right now, I dont see that happening, Oklahoma WR possess alot of speed. This is where the game will probably be won. LSU also possess some good WR, but I dont think that they have faced DB's with the talent of these Sooners who rank 7th in interceptions in the nation, with 20 takeaways.

When examining Oklahoma's offense, I think it is important to remember that they ran the A TON late in games in which they had a decisive lead.

There are really only two games which were truly competitive (Bama and KSU) and Oklahoma failed to move the ball effectively on the ground against both,

I'm not here to sway anyonoe's beliefs, but I would strongly recommend listening to LSUPete's rationale,

The way that I see this game is fairly simple.

Give Stoops a month to prepare and you have a winner - Oklahoma.

LSU is a very good team but the Okla players will hear for a month how they don't deserve to be in this bowl.

That plus Stoops = cover.

Zip, we all saw what happened when Stoops had two weeks to prepare for an opponent.

#42 ranked passing defense???

You must have been asleep during the season...The only reason any team got any passing yards was 1) Because they could not run the ball 2) They were so far behind they had to pass to catch up....Most of the yards gained against LSU passing were in the 4th quarter...

Everyone should take a better look at the offensive and defensive stats for both teams and tell me why Oklahoma is favored by 6....

The only defense U played against was KSTATE....Who did you you play?

Lets take a closer look----
We won't count non-conference opponents since both teams played weak schedules....
Alabama---cellar dweller in the SEC at 4-9---
OU 20-13 LSU 27-3
I guess OU had an off day...
Texas---OU crushed them 65-13 but remember Arkansas beat Texas also and LSu crushed Ark. 55-24
Iowa State 2-10 ---enough said
Missouri 8-4---Lost to Colorado and Kansas---but a good win here
Colorado 5-7---lost to Baylor
Oklahoma State 9-3---Another good win but Texas crushed them 55-16
A&M 4-8---enough said
Baylor 3-9---enough said
Texas Tech 7-5---Lost to Missouri 31-62--No defense but plenty of offense
KSTATE 11-3---enough said

Defense wins championships and OU has not played against one until last weekend...enough said....

LSU will cover whatever points you want to give them....The Moneyline looks like a winner!

LSU 35 - 21

Will give you 21 only because the 3rd string may give up 2 scores late....See ya in the Crescent City!

GL....May the best team win while Michigan hands it to USC.....

Classic move. We wont look at non-conf opponents? Of course you dont want to because LSU played an AWFUL non-conf sched! Here are the non-conf scheds:

sooners non-conf sched (3 bowl teams):
N texas (bowl team)
Alabama (at least a decent team)
Fresno st (bowl team)
UCLA- pac 10 team (bowl team)

For LSU (not 1 bowl team)
LA- Monroe (1 win this year)
Arizona (AWFUL)
Western illinois (WHO?)
La tech (losing record in the WAC)
La Middle School
La Kindergarten

I am not going to try and convince anyone that the sooners non-conf sched is GREAT, but compared to LSU's it's like they played the eagles, rams, colts and titans!

I am with you on oklahoma, but one of the few coaches that can matchup with stoops in the college game is saban. So i wouldnt make coaching a big issue when capping this game.

OOooooh Chad...don't get all defrosted! You asked for it, by saying the Tigers lost to a "poor" Florida team. Almost every poster here would disagree with you naming Florida a "poor" team. AND, there have been plenty of reasons given for taking LSU....so why call these guys "biased"?

Now, since you ask for records, mine was 80-60(+14 units)......YOURS was 48-27 (+18 units). You picked half as many games and ended 4 units better than I did. Congratulations, you have a had a nice year so far.

I agree w/ Hanson... -6 pts is a good line to jump on early, even if you change your mind for OU later. I'll get it at -6 and if I change my mind I can take LSU with +8 or +9 by game time. I have nothing to lose, and I may even get lucky and hit the middle.

Hansen Bros..
You say, "LSU is confident and pumped", and that OU is "shaken and pissed".

I think.. OU was plenty confident and pumped going into the Big XII title game and look what happened to them. I would say that both teams are good. Period.

It's laughable the way everyone is raving about the LSU D. I would still take the OU defense as being just as good. The front four are perhaps the only thing that would be even questionable. I'll take OU with speed, size, and ability to match up man for man with the LSU starting defense.

Funny thing is, had LSU played KSU the other night in arrowhead stadium I would bet you anything that the result would have been the same. In fact, I challenge you to find "ANY" team at any level any where that would have stoped Roberson and Sproles the other night. Sorry, it can't be done. LSU would have lost just as bad if not worse. Face it, KSU played a once in a lifetime game on a national stage.

Bob Stoops has taken over coaching the D for this game as his brother is off to coach Arizona and is now out of the picture. This could have been something that distracted the team going into the game. Game is also played in the dome, and I think that will benefit the OU offense as the cold seemed to have them frozen in place. In fact I haven't seen an offensive line that unwilling to move since the Germans invaded Stalingrad in WWII. They seemed to be droping balls, and missing tackles that they didn't seem to have a problem with all season.

I would much rather be the underdog like they were in 2000 when they played and destroyed FSU. It's easier to play care free when you are supposed to lose.

The bandwagon has thined out quite a bit following the 'upset' loss to KSU. I think that is a good thing as I expect there to be plenty of good seats available for everyone to jump back on in early January when OU is crowned the National Champions!

... and to think this team is supposed to be better next year... That's scary!

Regardless of who you like, I think it will be a good game.
OU will win the game, if they cover the 6 to 9 point spread, who knows?

G/L BTF.

what should worry sooner fans is their apparent inability to rush against a good defense. A great defense ( lsu and oklahoma) will shut down a one dimensional offense. the sooners must bring a good running game to n/o

anyone have a total on this game?

big 12

BIG difference to being confident and OVER-confident -- all the sooners heard all week prior to the ksu game were the debates on who they'd be playing in the sugar bowl and/or how they stacked up against the best teams ever!!! in this game lsu comes in w/out much chance of winning -- a measurable dog.

remember one thing here -- the sooners were not only s'pose to beat ksu, they were s'pose to beat them bad -- they were a 14 point favorite against a home team(for all intensive puposes), that knew the sooners as well as they knew themselves.

now, lsu, home team (for all intensive purposes), who does not know the sooners that well is a mere six point dog -- my point is this line should go up.

however, to take a page from you, if i may, "it's much better to come in as a dog in these situations, than it is a strong favorite...."

i agree, it should be fun!
