See, being just a 52% favorite seems way too risky that early. If I was already in the money, then I could understanding going for it. But at that point, nobody had been knocked out and my main goal is to make the top five.

Are you kidding me its 4 fucking dollars. LOL You just need to not play. What you are doing is not playing poker. How do you plan on ever gatting better. I mean you won't even se a flop with Q's how do you plan on getting better.

Yeah it's only 4 bucks. But my account ain't all that big to begin with and when you play 8 or so games a night it adds up.

I actually think my ultra-conservative style is conducive for these cheap sit n go's. Making the top half!?! Hell any moron can do that consistently... I'm living proof. : )

I wonder if most of yall are used to playing in bigger tournaments where a much smaller percentage of the players are paid out. I never play in those types of tourney's, but I'm thinking players might have to play more aggressively to get in the money.

I'm thinking maybe u ought to try some turbo tournaments to loosen u up a little bit...lol You won't be folding those pocket Q's anymore preflop..i bet you..lol

Also until you get up to playing atleast $50 buyin tourneys, you really won't find a difference in quality of players. Lower than $50 is absolutely a crap shoot, donkeys will push with anything seeing it is only a $4 tournament, so you have to be willing to play their style. (Never Fold Queens that early in the tourney pre flop)When in rome....

Good Luck to You

Obviously the strategy for a turbo sit n go that pays top 5 double or nothing is vastly different from a normal 10 man sit n go that pays top 3. Did you end up finishing in the top 5??

What a life. 8 games of $4 sit and go every night. The problem goes way deeper than not pushing with QQ's

Obviously the OP doesn't have the skill and most likely the resources to play $50 tournaments. He's having a good time (I would guess) playing $4 sit-n-gos. In those games patience pays off, you can hang in and make the money then folding isn't the worst play there. I would personally shove as would most of us, but I dont fault the OP for folding with his style of play. Did you make the money?

Very funny. What can I say, I'm extremely cheap and I like playing poker.

Ok, after reading all the responses I get it... I'm a donk. : ) As for whether I made the top 5 in that particular tourney, I don't remember. Probably, since I really do cash in 80% or better. I don't win very many, but at least I'm not losing money.

In any case, I do appreciate all the responses. :toast:

A couple days ago I decided to look up my Bodog account history for the past month and log how many games I played and where I finished in each game. Now remember I exclusively play in $4 +$0.40 single table "begginer" sit-n-go's where the top HALF reach the money. The payouts for 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st are: $4, $6, $8, $10, and $12.

I have the exact numbers on an excel spreadsheet at home, but basically I learned that I’ve done alright over the past month with a total profit of about $165. I know that’s nothing to you high rollers, but relative to my account it’s decent. An interesting stat that jumped out at me was that out of the 195 games I played over the past month, I finished in the money 79.5% of the time. However, I only reached 1st place about 8.6% of the time. I guess my tight style of play is conducive for reaching the money, but not so great for winning the whole thing.

I know I'm just an average player and perhaps a gutless donkey for dumping QQ. But hey I enjoy playing and in spite of my poker prowess I'm still turning a small profit.

You should switch to Stars or Cake and get into the double or nothing SNG's...top 5 double next 5 get nothing. Ive been playing them and they have lots of ppl hitting the money over 80%.
Got a bonus yesterday when Stars sent me $190 saying they had uncovered a collusion ring and confiscated all their funds...I had been playing the $10 DBL'S and killing them , i was like 18-2 at 1 stretch. Switched to $20'S AND got Fucked over and over again. Stars wouldnt say but im pretty sure those colluders were in the $20's, i had suspected some of them were playing each other soft and me hard now im pretty sure it was true..

But really compared to the structure at Bodog your just giving profit away not playing these dbl ups....

Pick up cans? Hmmm that sounds tempting, but I'm having too much fun playing poker. Thanks.

Okay if it's tournament... and it's $1500. It's CHIPS not real cash I'm suspecting. Early, pocket Q's, min raise... min re-raise? Come on. Easy call.

Even if they have AQ or AK or AJ... ur winning in all those scenarios and if they have a low pocket pair u MAY be suckered if they hit that flop but look--YOU hit it.
