sometimes the hatred people have for others is really sad as is your.. I guess you live one happy life though ! u don't know what you speak of but yet you speak... he was suspended immediately by athletic department according to policy... now it is up to urban meyer how long he is suspended.. you guys amaze me.

no hatred at all. IMO Urban Meyer is being too lenient on his own guys. He did it at Florida and he's doing it now. Not sure why you say "athletic dept"....from OSU themselves they say URBAN MEYER suspending him 1 game.

meyer has no say in the policy.. he is the coach so of course he tells the kid you are out..

Ohio State AD Gene Smith tells @ESPN, J.T. Barrett will be allowed to play Nov. 14 at Illinois

Correction, Urban maybe has no say in the university's mandatory policies but he could make any punishment more harsh if he wanted to. however, no fucking way he will.

i don't know what he will do and to be honest could care a less... i find it more entertaining the hate you Florida fans have for the guy.. get over it really. how many years has it been ? i bet you were loving him when he won you 2 national championships.. don't be a hypocrite. be honest with yourself !

Also, why should he make the punishment more harsher then the policy says? to make guys like u happy? do u really think he cares about people like u?

I wonder if there was a woman involved ? So often these young studs" get that "itch" especially during a bye-week when a little leisure time is on hand....Boys will be boys, so they throw in a brew or two to "stir the pot" (Just like we all did when we were young). These high-profile jocks have to realize they are constantly on someone's radar screen (They have no private life). Barrett didn't exactly commit the "crime of the century". A couple of beers? Give me a break.

#1. I'm not a florida fan. Just cause I live in the state doesn't mean I like the gators. I hope Florida gets smoked by Georgia today. #2. Its just a fact. Look at his history at UF. The punishment depends on who gets in trouble. When Carlos Dunlop was so hammered he fell asleep at a red light he missed 1 game. When guys that never played got in trouble they got much worse. Even the players knew it. when Muschamp got hired he kicked Janoris Jenkins off the team and Jenkins said this, "No doubt, if coach Meyer were still coaching, I'd still be playing for the Gators,"

i dont know what happened when he coached there, i can tell you since he has been at ohio state maybe he learned from the mistakes there but i do not see a guy who makes decisions that way. imo from what I have seen from meyer the kid will be suspended one game then will sit the bench for another game and will have to earn his way back on the field which I think he will, jones is a mess this year at QB and it could cost them a win but i do not think meyer will treat the kid like nothing happened. he fucked up, has to own it and earn his job back..

I will give you that he does seem to be a little better at Ohio then he was at Florida so far. However, the university's own handbook says that a player under 21 with a DUI will be considered a 2nd positive which results in a two week suspension and they are already trying to sweep that under the rug with the AD saying that doesn't come into play cause it was a misdemeanor. Even though the handbook doesn't say a thing about felony or misdemeanor and specifically stats DUI. I will give you though that is a university handbook and not Meyer's words. So its not like he is bending his personal rules but it seems like the university is bending there own handbook.

Yep --- apparently Ohio State's drug & alcohol policy has a few exceptions for misdemeanors. Even though most drug/alcohol crimes are classified as..........yep, misdemeanors.

Almost as though Ohio State tried to create the appearance of a "tough" policy, but purposely gave themselves some wiggle room.

Athletes have always been relegated to a higher standard when civil code violations are involved......Why? It would be interesting to know if (non-athlete) Members of the student body are "suspended" for (2) weeks from attending class if they were charged with the same "crime" Barrett was charged with. I suspect not......They pay the Civil penalties/fines and that ends the matter. Why not the Jocks ? Pay the fines (out of their own pockets) and let them suffer the consequences of embarrassment and chastisement from their families etc. If their mis-conduct was severe (property damage or bodily injury or even death....not the case with Barrett), they will be dealing with more than a one-game suspension with the authorities in the State they live in.

A little inside information for you, a lot of college football players are brainless, should not even be in college.
Not saying this about this kid in particular, but overall there are many that did not really graduate from HS, are there just to play football, cannot read very well... sorry to break the news to some of you.
Fun to bet on, though.
