Manziel in 12' Winston in 13' Garrett in 14' Red shirt frosh from texas winning the heisman. its possible looks like the kid is a baller
All of those QB's had one thing in common. They had a great OL protecting them. Not so with Ohio State. Almost all new faces. He'll be too busy running for his life to pick up his Heisman. :)

Wow, The Bucks rank #126 in career o-line starts returning with just 126. Could be some growing pains there, although one would think that Urban Meyer has been recruiting some blue chippers who are on the horizon.

.Well; what about the def line; Bucks were decimated there starting last year...Now gotta rebuild off line; and it is the off line that bothers me the most..and it is true having an experienced qb that runs will win you games like the majority of Buckeyes schedule; but the Red shirt stud is the qb that wins the big one for you..>>just as long as Ohio St beats that team from state up north in Nov., hey then it's a gr8 season; One thing Buckeyes have lways had is gr8 off lines; but I will admit there is a huge advantage with experience in off line; that is a negative..>> much worse than losing miller...go Bucks...

I get so sick of hearing abouta weak schedule. Va tech use to be a top 10 team. Mi, penn st, wi, msu and ne use to all be in the mix as a top 10 team, they are the ones that need to get better to help strengthen our schedule.

Ebbs and flows of the game. Whisky and MSU should be pretty good this year. OSU probably scheduled VT years ago, but they have slid dramatically over the last few years.

nice to pick out johnny and rapeis but there are about 50 other frosh or rs frosh that started and went through serious growing pains. as pointed out aTm had the greatest Oline of their history and fsu was the most talented team in ncaaf....osu's lost a tremendous oline, their key wr and rb, and are nowhere near left with the most talent in ncaaf

they aren't going 4-8 because their schedule dictates that they can sleepwalk to 7 wins but i'm guessing a heisman is out of reach until dec 2015 at least

JT Barrett moved from third string to second just before Miller was hurt. I think there's a lot to like in Barrett, and he has plenty of time to get acclimated before Ohio State's one and only big game on November 8. Michigan State has a tougher schedule...they host Nebraska and have an odd road game at Maryland the week after Ohio State that looks like a perfect trap game. Just saying that Michigan State isn't a lock for the title just because Miller's out.

Miller got the SI jinx. Comes out on the regional cover, goes down same week.

I heard that the drop off in passing from Miller to anybody else was a huge chasm......and that is saying a lot, because Miller's not a great passer, just ask MSU.

But the schedule is set up nice and those backups were the ones running the show in spring. They do have some time to get it in gear.

QB is the least of the Buckeyes worries. 4 new linemen and a brand new defense are the glaring issues. Not to mention brand new Rbs. You don't need a stud QB to win in cfb, Bama shows that on a yearly basis. But this is Ohio State, they reload. A lot will be answered in the first couple of weeks going to Navy, night vs VTech and a game with Cincy. This Barrett kid could pan out, have 8 games under his belt and head into Spartan country with tons of confidence. All this being said, it could go the other way and we could be 8-4 because the issues were not fixed. Only time will tell. Can't fucking wait!!!!!!!

The Miller loss is huge. Miller is a 3 year starter and gave hope of alleviating the strain of those issues. Losing him was the worst thing that could of happened aside from Meyer getting that itch to move on. Winning a title at some point means the QB is going to have to be a play-maker. Saban may have a system that is less reliant on on a stud qb, but show me another example and Ill show you Winston, Newton, Tebow....hell, looking at Mccarron stats, he looked pretty studly to me. I think your situation might be a little more rough than you're letting on. Meyer's system is very reliant on the QB. But the schedule is easy enough that the dline should be able to keep things at bay until other parts get fine tuned.

Miller started or played in 12 games THE year before Meyer showed up. Meyer inherited a returning starter. People forget some struggles Miller had as a freshman...but don't most freshman?

You also forget that the backups have taken all first team snaps since spring practice. Braxton hadn't started throwing a couple days before his arm nearly fell off. Like I said, QB is not what needs taken care of at this point because if the line doesn't block their are going to be jacked up from the get go. I am really going to watch how well our D line does against a Veteran Navy that run that crazy triple option. If they don't dominate, we could be in trouble. Lots of variables! 5 days away!
