Just for kix (yeah I got that kinda time) I looked at Boston from 1997 to 2007, Playoffs included.

Atleaste -150 Fav they went 410 - 234 hitting the r/l 328 times. I don't think my numbers are bang on dead accurate as I went over the scores very quickly but it's a pretty damn good idea.

50.93%

Last night it went 4-1 with the Phillies the only loser.

Todays plays are:

Boston, Mets, Cubs, Brewers, and A's.

-1.5 runlines are the biggest sucker bets in all of sports betting. They are a way for compulsive bettors to "eliminate the juice"... you're dreaming if you think the sportsbook's main goal is making your life easier by letting you take a -220 fave for +100 RL... they're making it easier to lose money. Ask any legitimate handicapper, and they'll say the same thing. It goes against the nature of the game, because there is no incentive to win by more than 1 run. Also, if a home team comes from behind to win (most RL favorites are home teams) they will win by 1 run 90% of the time barring a walk off HR with men on base. If you use your head you can see it's rarely worth it. Just my two cents, but handicapping is 1 of my 2 jobs. And I'm good at what I do.

Play the RL all year and I guarantee you will make more money. Why take a -170 when you can get them +125? If you look at the scoreboard each day only a couple of games are decided by 1 run.

You shouldn't be taking -175 at all. The only way I ever play big favorites is to parlay them together. No more than 3, but try and stick to just 2 teams to a parlay. I get better odds ranging from +160 to +190 and I don't have to worry with the hook. Baseball is a game where anything and everything can happen at any time, but though it all, the only thing that matters is who wins. If you are good at them and can make money, then more power to ya, because they are undoubtedly the hardest bets to master. Also, just to note... historically about 30% of games are decided by 1 run.

Okay so what if you have -1 RL's???

Red Sox are perfect example of why you take the RL. Get plus return in a blowout win instead of paying all the juice.

You got plus odds on the Red Sox RL? While you can make an argument for minimizing the amount risked, most people got +100 odds on the RL... so it really didn't matter which bet you took, RL or ML as far as how much you won.

Plus the game isn't over yet, 9 run leads get blown all the time, Marlins a few days ago, Mets last night... and the Red Sox are definitely predisposed to having bullpen troubles this year.

Those are a different story, and are extremely rare. Most books don't offer them because they aren't as profitable for them as the -1.5.

you can make your own -1 run line in any sports book. theres a forumla going around on here somewhere. basically you bet on the money line and runline and you make it so if you win by 1 you win back the amount you placed on the runline so you would make it a push.

close to a 66 33 wager or there abouts, someone has the formula so it might get posted here if they see this thread.

Line was around +110 and this game is over.

I also use the RL for -110 favorites as sometimes you can get it around +200 which is double the payout.

Depends when you got the line and I'm not saying for the season. You have to pick your spots when taking a RL. I'm pretty sure they keep track of the Red Sox getting +1.5 in that too.

I would like to know the Red Sox RL record at home and the Cubs too.
