dont take this as "bashing" at all... no intent... but why does anyone bet the nationals for this reason? everyone knows their bullpen is garbage, they blow leads everytime along with the marlins..... it just seems like betting the nationals to me is just wanting a loss.... i dunno i could be wrong...
You're right. It was a stupid bet on my part. My thinking was pretty simple... the Nats had a huge pitching edge tonight (Lannan vs. Blanton). Unfortunately, Lannan crapped the bed in the 6th, which meant he had to get yanked early. If he doesn't self-destruct the way he did the bullpen doesn't have to come in so early, and they have a good shot at winning.
I put this loss as much on Lannan as I do the bullpen, because anytime you bet the Nats you expect the bullpen to get hammered.

Excellent point. I haven't been betting first 5 nearly as much this year as I have in the past, but it's the smart play when you're betting on teams with bad pens (which is almost everybody). I also really like it if you're betting on a team who has their ace going.
