the idea is great. im thinking something similar to the eurail i traveled on when i was in europe. huge train line connecting to the major cities in roughly 20 countries. cost like 50 bucks a country. next time i go over there im getting the global 15 day pass where i can check out all 20 on the line.

this would be a very profitable and wise venture.

It would be nice since the US is so vast. But we will need to back McCains idea for nuke plants if we want high speed light rail systems. Where will we get the electricity, from multiple non-interconnected grids to power these?

McCain makes more sense on energy. Get the energy inside the us, then work on pet projects like light rail systems and subsidies for car manufacturers to make electric cars.

You also have three reactors in Minnesota. Where are the reactors in Colorado and other states to support this US wide light Rail System?

Just think, a trip from LA to Miami, running at over 200+mph. You hookup the big cities first and in time each state will have it's own system to smaller cities. In 100 years there won't be a place you can't go by train.

LOL...in 100 years we will all be flying around in George Jetson anti-matter cars auto piloted by GPS.

Typical Libs...build a boondoggle at precisely the time it becomes a dinosaur. :missingte

Not much progressive thinking, in these parts, over the last 50 years. While Europe was building a world class rail system we let ours crumble.

Might as well not change now just make fun of any progressive thought

L.A. county officials are opposed to the idea of a bullet train to Vegas. Why? Well, they're not ready to encourage residents to leave the city on the weekends and spend their money elsewhere. I think it's only a matter of time before it'll happen though. As for the rest of the country, I don't think it's practical since the U.S. is so large. Even the fastest train would take at least three times longer to arrive at a destination than an airplane...and who the hell is going to want to spend 24 hours sitting on a train to go from Boston to L.A. when they can do it in the air in seven?

In the mean time, I suppose the Obammer thinks we should have a massive government program to mandate tire pressure (paid for by windfall profit taxes on air companies). You know...considering the fact that gas prices havet jumped 150% in the last six years because drivers got lax on their tire pressure...

As the population grows more stuff has to be built anyways. So some of that money would be spent on the railway system.

But anything that would cut into the profits of Big Oil and Big Auto the people on the wrong... I mean right, will be brainwashed into hating

LMAO Big Oil and Big Auto. How moronic. Hey dope how many good paying jobs are in "big oil and big auto". LOL This is America idiot in this great country we are allowed to make a profit. Do you even know how much tax revenue these companies generate. LOL This is some scary thinking. You want to be a commy please move to North Korea.

Under-inflation

If your vehicle's tires are under inflated by only 6 psi it could lead to tire failure. Additionally, the tire's tread life could be reduced by as much as 25%. Lower inflation pressure will allow the tire to deflect (bend) more as it rolls. This will build up internal heat, increase rolling resistance and cause a reduction in fuel economy of up to 5%. You would find a significant loss of steering precision and cornering stability. While 6 psi doesn't seem excessively low, remember, it usually represents about 20% of the tire's recommended pressure.

High speed trains should and will be part of our future.

I think we can all pretty much agree with this post.

I'm looking forward to the North/South Express Line connecting Dallas Ft Worth to Heredia, CR

Be at the December RxForum Bashes in air conditioned comfort without leaving the ground.

Sez you, Pops.

:howdy:

At age 48, I've got some pretty optimistic hope that medical advances in combination with cyborg-like body part transplants could have me pushing 150.

They can rebuild me. I will be faster, stronger.....
